SIGG water bottles for kids get an international makeover

They may not get filled with anything more exotic than ice water, but a new travel series SIGG water bottle for kids will get your brood thinking about far-away places while they sip. With six different cities represented in the series there is bound to be a little wanderlust around the lunch table once school is back in session. The Paris bottle is parfait for little Francophiles. Or let them pick from London, Shanghai, Switzerland, Germany, and New York City bottles, all illustrated with iconic images from the location. While there is a boy and girl version of each bottle, starring either “Max” or “Ruby” (oddly) on the front, the color scheme and illustrative...

Custom Sigg bottles at Cafe Press. Copyright: You.

Remember when CafePress first launched? They offered what seemed to me like a whole lot of not much, onto which you could have imprinted your website logo or your dog’s photo. Because you know, everyone needs a dog photo lucite key chain. But there’s so much more now. First off, you can design your own SIGG bottles now, and right in time for back-to-school season. Indeed Sigg reusable water bottles had issues last year when their older bottles were recalled due to BPA concerns with the liners–and these aren’t those. For those of you still in the market for...

Cool Mom Picks + The Soft Landing bring you The BIGG Bottle Swap (a.k.a. Don’t get mad at SIGG…get discounts)

Like so many of you, we were super bummed to discover last week that SIGG bottles are not BPA-free. But after a few minutes of being bummed, we had this idea:  What if, instead of everyone just tossing out their bottles, we ask one of our favorite sites to create some sort of bottle trade-in program so that folks like us (and you of course) can recycle your old SIGG bottles and get a product you feel better about in exchange? And so, the BIGG Bottle Swap was born, thanks to our amazing partner, The Soft Landing. As part...

Breaking News – SIGG Bottles contain BPA after all. Sigh.

It’s disheartening to support a brand like SIGG for making safer, BPA-free drinking bottles for kids and adults when it turns out that nope, that wasn’t the situation at all. Or as the old saying goes, “we was played.” News broke this week that SIGG, the aluminum bottles we’ve often lauded as a safer, Bisphenol A-free alternative to plastic cups and bottles–and that my own kids drink out of every day–have linings that contain small amounts of the proven endocrine disrupting chemical. This is the case with all SIGG bottles made before August 2008, and plenty still being sold....

We’re big fans of yogurt here at Cool Mom Picks and with good reason. It’s an easy go-to that kids love because it’s delicious and we moms love because it’s (mostly) healthy. Unfortunately, some of the most packable yogurts are also the most sugary. Ick! Enter two new options, both of which come in easy-to-tote packaging and have something new–and better–to offer yogurt fans like us. –Stacie   If you’ve ever tried skyr, traditional Icelandic yogurt, you’ve probably tried a cup of siggi’s (above), the most popular brand of Icelandic-style yogurt here in the States. Respect and protect rainforests with supercool reusable water bottles

I’m a hardcore fan of SIGG reusable water bottles. They’re seriously durable–and I know, because my kids put them through the wringer, dragging them from school to skatepark. Now I’m in love with a new collaboration between SIGG and Cuipo (a clothing brand dedicated to saving our rainforests) and here’s why.     Eeach purchase of a Cuipo-branded SIGG bottle saves one square meter of rainforest, preserved in your name. I think this eco-happy skate mama knows what she wants for her birthday. I’m most obsessed with the logo “Be the Solution, Not the Cause.” I can’t wait to...

The water bottle that never leaks. Ever.

I’m kind of floored to admit that the new Active Top Smart Drinking System from SIGG absolutely refused to leak no matter how much I abused it. This new line of bottles for adults and kids has a liner that’s eco-friendly, BPA-free and phthalate-free, plus it’s recyclable and practically unbreakable. It’s designed so that kids can drink out of this bottle without tilting it–not to mention carry it upside down in a backpack full of report cards or fall asleep with it in their lap during a long car trip and wake up with dry pants. And I know,...

We <3 this bottle because it's #twittering

Why is this new SIGG bottle awesome for Valentine’s Day? Because no one can live without water. (And lots of us can’t live without Twitter.) It’s a child-sized bottle, but I would totally drink from it. Damask, birds, flowers, bright colors, and all the usual things we love about SIGG, including BPA- and phalate-free aluminum lining and near-unbreakability (that’s a word, right?). Perfect for a little girl’s lunchbox. Perfect for a Twitter-addict’s laptop bag. And perfect for Valentine’s Day, especially when filled with Hershey’s Kisses.~Delilah Find the Twittering .4-liter SIGG bottle at the SIGG site or check for a...

Hello Kitty the water bottle, inspired by Hello Kitty the now retro-cool icon

I’ve been a fan of Hello Kitty since long before she was retro. Which, now that I write it down, makes me feel kind of old. But truly, that Hello Kitty watch I wore so proudly back in the day would be totally amazing to have now that she’s all cool again. Until someone invents a way for me to shrink my wrist to fit a kid-sized watch, though, I figure I’ll just go with something equally cute. Like this SIGG Hello Kitty water bottle. It just so happens to be on sale right now at one of our...

Hello Earthlust, helloooooo beautiful stainless steel bottles

Since the recent revelation that SIGG bottle liners contain BPA, we’ve been on the look out for more alternatives made of stainless steel and not aluminum, which requires a liner in the first place. There’s the Safe Sporter which we’ve featured on site, and several options in our Back to School Shopping Guide. But we hadn’t found anything with designs as beautiful as some of the SIGG offerings until we found the awesome stainless steel bottles from Earthlust. Created by an earth conscious San Francisco mom, the bottles are made from food grade stainless steel with a carabiner for...

Plastic gets slightly less un-fantastic

No matter how conscious we may be about the earth-unfriendliness of bottled water (how does 150 million pounds of plastic waste each year grab you?), we’ve all had that situation where we simply had to buy a bottle of water. For me, it always seems to happen at the airport –because honestly, am I supposed to jam my half-liter Sigg bottle into my already-regulation-tiny carry-on? If you must buy a bottle, be on the lookout for the new “Eco-Fina” Aquafina bottle. It’s made from 50% less plastic than Aquafina’s previous water bottle design (which means half as much waste),...

Another shop to add to your list of Toy Stores That Get It is the wonderful Hazelnut Kids. Picnic Week: Built NYC’s Neoprene Six-Pack Tote

My memories of picnicking as a child include my poor dad struggling to carry a giant plastic cooler weighing approximately 100 pounds to our picnic site.  He’d heave the monstrous beast onto a picnic table and then go sit down to mop the sweat off his brow. Fun start to the day! Now that I have children, I’m determined not to become their pack mule. Instead of using a huge cooler, we pack things in smaller, easy-to-carry containers and share the load. Built NYC makes the most amazing neoprene totes in different shapes, sizes and colors to keep cool drinks insulated stylishly and...
