Cool Mom Picks has yet to determine our version of five stars or two thumbs up but whatever it is, VedaBABY has earned it in spades.
Created by top Manhattan pediatrician Nathalie Geary, this totally natural skincare collection combines modern pediatric science with traditional herbal remedies, resulting in simply sensational products.
First of all, it all smells fantastic; not perfumey and cloying like some other high-end fancy-pants baby lotions. Dr. Geary uses no preservatives, no steroids (eek!), no artificial stuff at all. Just fresh ingredients like chamomile, orange blossom, lavender, calendula, and organic rosehip oil, which explains why I’ve spent the better part of the day with my nose buried in my daughter’s diaper.
While I was delighted with all of the lotions and potions I sampled, the hypoallergenic Baby Butt balm is a standout. It’s not cheap, but as someone who has been through a week-long deathmatch with extreme diaper rash (my baby’s, not mine), I will spare no expense to avoid that hell again.
The website also features a VedaMAMA line for new mothers, including a premium stretch mark reducing cream. Not that you’d need anything like that. -Liz
