If you’re a frequent reader of Cool Mom Picks, then you know we believe that being a cool mom transcends what kind of diaper bag you carry.
For the past three years I’ve balanced my love of stuff with my work for the Starlight Starbright Foundation, a non-profit organization for seriously ill children and their families. Chaired by super-director and father, Steven Spielberg, SLSB esssentially livens up the lonely hospital environment. They provide entertainment, in-hospital gaming, computers and chat rooms so sick children can interact with one another, and create much-needed new friends. Essentially, they allow young patients to keep their minds off all the heavy stuff in their lives.
In other words, Starlight lets kids be kids. Pretty cool.
I hope you’ll consider matching the money you’d spend on one of our featured baubles or bags, and sending it over to Starlight to help keep us trucking. And if you or someone you know has a chronically ill child or teen, definitely ask your child life specialist about the Starlight Starbright programs. We’re all just trying to do what we can, where we can. –Rebecca
