I love getting my tees for my friends’ kids because I know they actually get worn. (Unlike a few of the things we’ve received–enough said?) But a gift needs to be something a little more special than your average, run-of-the mill Hanes undershirt with a decal, and the cheeky, hand-embroidered numbers from Dirty Laundry fit the bill.

More wearable art than plain old garment, each tee is hand-appliqued with layers of handcut fabric for a 2-D look and feel, then embellished with decorative top-stitching. The themes are hilarious, more like the offbeat cartoons found in alternative newspapers than typical kiddie images. Think: A dog’s head over crossbones, a pig shouting yahoo from a rocket ship, or a burping bird with the sillhouette of a moose in his belly.

Dirty Laundry Tees are available online at Felder and Charles
Expensive? Yes. But I will stop at nothing to be the aunt who gives the good gifts, dammit. –Liz
