Yes, we’d all like to be the type to embrace and adore every crease and crevice, every jiggle and wiggle in our figures as we evolve from imperfect to imperfectly pregnant; but I’m afraid those types are limited to Dove ads and Dr. Phil segments. So I don’t know about you, but I’m willing to try pretty much anything to stave off the dreaded stretch marks.
For the last two weeks I’ve been very much enjoying slathering dollops of delicious Belly Butter all over my bump, courtesy of NakedPaint, a small NYC company that urges women to "honor thy body." And so, we obey (to greater or lesser degrees).This is exactly the kind of thing that makes a nice little shower gift accompaniment–something for baby, something for mama. It’s creamy and rich, and she’ll like the not-too-strong smell of cocoa butter, aloe, and a whit of jasmine. Plus, it contains emu oil. I mean, who in her right mind can resist a belly butter made with emu oil?
One more selling point: The stuff is paraben-free and it’s not tested on animals. Unless you count me at a brunch buffet these days. –Liz
