As the day of giving thanks approaches, I think it’s important to think about how privileged we all are just to be able to sit behind our computer screens, connecting to other parents, doing a little shopping, playing a little Snood.

Starting tomorrow, not-for-profit One Laptop Per Child launches their Give 1, Get 1 campaign across North America. Through the 26, for every very cute, kid-friendly XO laptop you buy for $399, they’ll donate one to a child in a developing country, particularly in places where schools can only afford to spend less than $20 a year per child. Consider that’s what most moms here spend on bake sale ingredients.

There are some seriously impressive people behind the effort, starting with CEO Nicolas Negroponte who’s also the cofounder of the media library at MIT – this is all on the up and up.

And if you don’t need a laptop for your own kid for the holidays? Just donate one for a mere $200. That’s a whole lot of giving for not a lot of money. –Liz

Ed Note: The Give 1, Get 1 Campaign was extended through 12/31. What an awesome holiday gift.
