I’ve learned in my humble five years as a parent that no matter how hard you try, kids are going to like what they like – and around here it’s trucks and mermaids. But what I have figured out is that it doesn’t necessarily have to be the exact one that they see on their favorite TV show or DVD.
Thank goodness for loopholes – and mom and owner Stacia Linz of Happy Tomato who has helped satisfy my kid’s desires without me having to drop more cash on licensed characters. Her original sketches are hand carved from wood blocks then printed with non-toxic ink onto shirts, dresses, and more to make an incredibly unique gift.
If you’re in the market for some holiday wear, you must check out her Victorian sleigh design. Such a nice change from the cutesy snowmen and reindeer out there, licensed or not. -Kristen
