Eclectic Living Room on HouzzFrom Christmas through January, I seem to go into serious nesting mode. All I want to do is organize my home and fix those shelves and dream about paint colors and alphabetize the kids’ books and…and…and…

So I’ve had a grand old time flipping through the virtual pages of Houzz, a photo-sharing website all about homes and interiors. While a lot of it isn’t my style (or the home owners are working with, oh, say 400 million feet more space than I have here in Brooklyn) there’s definitely inspiration to be found. Search the photos labeled kids and you’ll find some neat inspiration, like this DIY beanbag, the idea to hang baby clothes on an old drying rack, or an elaborate paean to Hello Kitty. You can also search by space or metro area – so far, London takes it for me.

You can also save favorites into an “idea book” on Houzz or search more than 10,000 from other users; and generally make yourself envious that you don’t have more time, more money, or a full-time housekeeper. –Liz
