Breukelen baby onesieI’m not sure when exactly my humble borough of Brooklyn, New York became cool, but there seems to be evidence of it, from the occasional celebrity sightings in my local diner, to people saying, “oh you live in Brooklyn? Cool.”

So while a line of Brooklyn baby tees might have once been a display of local pride, I think visitors might appreciate them too.

Bklyn Yard makes some of the most fabulous, most original printed baby tees and onesies I’ve seen in a while, all printed on insanely soft, designer-style “destroyed” peruvian cotton, giving it that rough-around-the-edges look that we use to scare off the tourists. (Kidding. We’re very friendly. Unless it’s 5PM on the A train.) The Breukelen fire hydrant onesie (above) is simply inspired, and the tree grows in Brooklyn baby tee looks of an era before Starbucks and Target arrived.

Brooklyn lost Elephant TeeSome of the designs from these two local artists and aunties are quirkier than others, which I happen to like–check out the lost elephant kids’ thermal tee (right)– and they all have Play Nice in script on the labels as a nice little touch. My only complaint is that the shirt sizes stop at 4T, because I’d sure like one for myself.

Cool Mom Picks Pick of the Year 2010If you’re from one of the other, perhaps more underrated boroughs, fret not – Bklyn Yard’s Metro Card onesie should be the official uniform of B+T offspring everywhere. –Liz
