You mean things can go somewhere other than the floor?

Storage bench entryway organizer by Martha StewartYou know those special areas some people have in their entryways with hooks and nooks and spots for every last mitten, bat and cleat? Well, in my house, the catch-all we have is known as the floor. Yes, I have mudroom envy.

But wait! It turns out that Martha feels my pain, and has created the perfect solution for all us organizationally challenged individuals — free standing storage benches and cube organizers with a beautiful selection of colored canvas drawers.

The new Martha Stewart Living storage and organization collection has just hit Home Depot, and it’s made from substantial and sturdy particle board–which I know gets a bad rap. But for a simple solution to clutter and chaos I say, who needs Pine?

There’s a 6-cube option, a 9-cube option and the 3-cube bench which you can mix and match until everything has a place. And they’re affordable too, with the units starting at $45 and the canvas drawers under $7. Sure it’s not quite a custom built mud room, but who cares when you can get haute design at Home Depot prices. Now who’s jealous? -Betsy

These are really cute! I have mudroom envy too. I currently do something similar using my Grandma’s cedar chest; obviously it doesn’t have the open shelves but it serves the same bench / storage function. All I keep in it, so far, are coats. I haven’t figured out a good way to store coats otherwise because my entry way is also MY DINING ROOM. :/ Very inconvenient!
