My husband’s favorite childhood memory may involve cracking open his brand new Atari game system and having a marathon Pong session, so it’s no surprise that he grew up to be a tad tech-obsessed. Which is why I got him a copy of Geek Dad: Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share for Father’s Day.

Written by popular Wired.com blogger, Ken Denmead, this book has dozens of family-friendly activities that are as simple as finger painting with wind up toys or as intricate as an amazing project to create a light-up kite. Each chapter includes a list that clearly explains the supplies needed, the complexity of the project and the amount of time it should take, from twenty minutes to a couple of hours.

(Of course in my house it would be more like time it will take to spread out all the pieces everywhere and then go take a nap.)

Seriously, I can’t wait for my son and hubby to flip through Geek Dad and decide what geeky — and by geeky I mean cool — activities they want to do. While they’re busy with that, I can go take a nap. Hey, who says Father’s Day can’t have a little Mother’s Day squeezed in?
