Putumayo Kids Rock & Roll PlaygroundIt has been a long time since I’ve willingly rocked around the clock, but I still love me some good ol’ rock-n-roll during the daylight hours. Thanks to Putumayo Kids, I now have some of our favorite kiddie rockers assembled in one place to help us shake, rattle and roll with songs that are perfect for the half pints.

(check out the hilarious contest after the jump!)

Putumayo Kids Presents Rock & Roll Playground features some of our favorite songs from big names in kids’ music like Dan Zanes, Brady Rymer and Charity and the JAMband.

You may recognize some of the songs, especially if your CD racks look anything like mine do, but if you are new to kids’ music, this is a great way to get your feet wet and check out some artists you may not have heard before.

I really loved being introduced to the bouncy rockabilly of Rosie Flores who sings This Little Girl’s Gone Rockin’ as if she is at home in a poodle skirt. And nobody weaves a story into a song like Grammy winner Bill Harley, who kicks off the CD with Sleep the Whole Day Through–a song anyone with teenagers is sure to understand. Actually, it sounds pretty good to me right now too. –Christina
