Web Coolness – Princess satire, great parenting advice, and some awesome design inspiration

what do you say dear? Here are some things we’ve liked reading around the web this week. We hope you will too.

Find lots of design inspiration with the new Closet & Casa series at Oh Joy!

Thanks Babyccino for reminding us about What do you say, dear? A wonderful old book on manners illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

We love this Donors Choose proposal for a K-2 teacher looking to get technology in a classroom of children with disabilities. Can you vote it up or donate? [via mochamomma]
We’re giggling at the satirical Advice for Young Girls from Cartoon Princesses series of videos and this Blogher post about it. Although Liz still really likes Tiana.

On Alpha Mom, a lovely post by mom of 7, Chris Jordan, on Five Mistakes Every Kid Should be Allowed to make.

And a couple for the NY mamas…
-Babesta Cribz is hosting the next in their awesome Xtreme Playdate parties on September 11. LA based master scissor artist Karl Johnson will do handcut silhouettes of your kids, so be sure to make an appointment!

-Fashionistas, mark down next Friday, September 10 for Fashion night down at Bigelow Apothecary on 6th in the Village. CMP fave Mama Mio will handle the mocktails and free samples, manicure and makeup touchups will be available, and (camp alert!) Jersey Shore’s Vinny Guadagnino will be there from 7-8 for some reason.

Cool Mom Staff

We spend our time looking for cool stuff so you don't have to. Hope this one fits the bill.

    Chandra I.

There is also “What do you do dear?” also with illustrations by Sendak and words by Ms. Joslin. My daughter still loves these books, and so did I when growing up.
