Okay, I’m going to lay all my cards on the table here. When Liz asked me if I wanted to review Eco Potty Wipes from Cushytoosh, I thought she meant an environmentally friendly version of those mass-produced pop-up flushable wipes for toddlers. [Ed note: So did I! -Liz]
But then I realized that we were talking about cloth wipes. For women. And I did a double take.
So, I’m really into clean, healthy, eco and all that jive. And I love cloth anything. But wiping? For adults? Um… didn’t really sound like my cup of tea. But, eager beaver (pun too good to resist) that I am, I agreed to test them out.
And, wouldn’t you know it? I’ve actually gotten into them. And my daughter? She absolutely loves them.
These eco potty wipes, made by hand in Wisconsin from 100% cotton, are
soft and absorbent and come neatly packed in a mesh laundry bag. This
bag makes everything really simple. Just sit the wipes somewhere in your
bathroom –let’s say near the toilet would be easiest– and hook the empty
bag close by.
Use the wipes for pee only –I know you won’t ignore me on this
point– and throw the entire bag into the wash when you’ve used most of
them. Simple. And the biggest bonus? You’ll never run out of toilet
paper again.
Seems like it could be smart for your pregnant eco-istas who are peeing 47 times an hour. But more realistically, maybe you consider using them on your babies instead of disposable wipes. We really don’t expect that most of you will stop using toilet paper.
However for those of you brave enough to think outside the box (heh) and try cloth, you’re our eco heros.

I used cloth diapers & cloth bum wipes for my new born. This is just the next step, right? Not that I am ready to take that step…
Love it! I have used cloth wipes before, because I forgot to buy tp and wasn’t willing to haul two under two out to go get it. I just used the washcloths that I use for cloth baby wipes. It actually was nicer in some ways! Plus, if you’re already cloth diapering it isn’t like it’s more laundry at all… just throw it in the diaper pail!
This might be a good idea for backpacking/camping. Leaving toilet paper in the woods can be a little tough on the environment.
I thought I heard it all, until I found this post today! (haha) I would have to say for camping or something I think this would be okay…but I am not sure about the whole everyday use. I think it is wonderful for anyone that can use these…nothing wrong with it…and I like how they come with the laundry bag…but I just can not imagine using them. I would love to see my husbands face though! hahaha
Since making this New Years resolution, to avoid using TP when not necessary, I have struggled with the separation, folding aspect. I love the answer for this bag for laundering. Thanks for bringing this potentially senstive topic up!
I’ve actually thought about this before, but have never taken the time to look for any…I might be crazy enough to try it!
P.S. Jennifer, you can buy biodegradable toilet paper in tiny little rolls for camping. And, since you’re burying it in a little hole you know it won’t be floating around on a tree limb somewhere. Ew. =)
2 cloth diaper babies later, I recommend soft cloth wipes (and other female-hygienic items)to new moms post-birth as a matter of comfort. You do the laundry anyhow and even if it seems a leap at first, you appreciate the cloth immediately out of the hospital. PS My husband always jokes that at least I haven’t made him switch to reusable toilet paper…yet.

Once you go with the oober softness of the Eco Potty Wipes you’ll wonder why you hadn’t tried them before. I’ve used them now for over 6 months and LOVE them!! Toilet Paper is an option but Eco Potty Wipes are the ULTIMATE~ Come on all you CHICKENS~~ 🙂

If you’re already cloth diapering, it’s really no big deal. I cut up 3 old t-shirts and just put used ones in the pail that I keep in the bathroom anyway. Also much more comfortable.
