One of the coolest things about working with so many small business owners is that we really get to know their personal stories of talent, innovation, and dedication. We’re always amazed by their strength and perseverance. Small business ownership is not for wimps, yo.
We discovered KangarooBoo during the holidays three years ago, and we’ve been smitten ever since. Not only does owner and mom Jennic Law carry a fabulous assortment of our favorite children’s toys and gear, but she has a most incredible personal story of overcoming cancer and giving back a portion of every sale to children’s charities.
She also has $27,000 in medical bills after an emergency procedure this summer. And like too many families these days, no health insurance to help cover it.
So the community has rallied to her aid, led by Sara’s Toy Box, to bring you the Jingle Bells for Jennic online auction. They’ve got some fantastic donations including toys for the kids, nursery decor, and even a personal concert for your kids with the much-lauded Charlie Hope. (Love her!)
The auction will run through December 7, and every last penny go towards Jennic’s medical bills. And if you’re a small business owner yourself who’d like to donate items for auction, feel free.
The other thing you can do? Consider shopping at KangarooBoo this holiday season and all year long. Obviously, we already adore the shop, but knowing that by shopping there we’re directly helping a lovely woman who has helped so many others–well, shopping just doesn’t get any better than that. -Julie
