I’ve loved the spectacularly gorgeous, understated kids wear from Shirin NYC since first discovering them a few years ago. This is the kind of clothing I spot in a boutique, and the second I touch the silky cotton, I (attempt to) start justifying the splurge.

Now I’ve got the same feeling all over again, having seen the new fall/winter line for kids. Bonus: Boys and babies can get in on this year’s styles too.

I’m wary of too much glitz on kids, but the new foil print tees add a touch of metallic to their designs in a truly tasteful way. I adore the organic star tee or terry star tee which would be so cute on a girl or a funky little boy. I also loooove the print on a stripey organic cotton scarf that would look great on mamas too (hint). You can even find it on a diaper cover, which is hilarious–if a bit pricy for a diaper cover outside the 90210.

If you’ve got a daughter (or niece or granddaughter) who lives in dresses, the Shirin selection is awesome this year. Especially the bird garland print dress which features a navy hand-screened bird print over a greyish-brown eco-silk blend dress, complete with a funky ribbon at the collar. Pair it over skinny jeans or leggings when it gets colder, or just with a pair of funky boots and knee socks right now.

These pieces are exquisitely made, more like wearable art than mere clothing, with the prices to match. (Do not yell at me, frugal moms, when you see the prices!)

The good news? There are always great sales on the site, like the sale tees for half-off and the super cute owl dress which is 30% off.

Definitely keep an eye on that sale section. Because I’m sure a whole lot of you are just like me–mamas with tastes that often exceed your budget. –Liz
