Pearls and Popcorn - French clothes for kids, now in the U.S.I often get stuck in a rut when it comes to buying clothes for my kids. I automatically order their jeans and sweaters from big name chains and then am continually disappointed about the fit or the fact that a hole appears after only a couple times on the playground.

With the U.S. launch of a beloved French kids’ label, I’m now vowing to branch out and buy some basics from somewhere besides the mall.

The French children’s wear brand Pearls & Popcorn
launched in the states at Bloomingdale’s in the fall and is now
available online through their website. What I love about this line is
its casual–yet still very cool–take on basics.

The line is
designed by a French designer who wanted clothes her kids wear both on
the playground and to a fancier affair, like a wedding or out to dinner
with the ‘rents. I tend not to dress my boys in fussy or preppy things,
which is is why I’m a big fan of the long-sleeved cotton tees (all for a reasonable $20 each) and the adorable, albeit pricier, snowflake cardigan. The cardigans for little girls are also tres adorable.

So
maybe these aren’t down-and-dirty playground clothes. For that I’ll
still shop at the big stores. But when I’m taking my little guys to
a grown-up restaurant or making the birthday party rounds, I’ll
totally splurge on a little something from Pearls & Popcorn. -Melissa
