31 Bits handmade jewelryOne of our favorite kinds of Mother’s Day gifts to recommend are those that give back, because we hardly know a mother among us who isn’t committed to making the entire world a better place for our babies. Now there’s a new one, offering beautiful affordable jewelry, with a cause that’s just as attractive.

31 Bits
is creating very wearable, handmade jewelry with the help of 108 women
in Uganda. The company not only helps provide them with an income
source, but also with vocational training, educational opportunities,
English lessons, and AIDS and healthcare education. Founder Kallie Dovel
seems like a pretty great lady.

Look around the shop and you’ll find a ton to covet at prices that make
it easy to hit the “add to cart” button. While they’re promoted for
brides, I happen to think the Woven Delight necklace, Honey Pie bracelet and Blossom bracelet in particular will look elegant this summer even if you’re just walking down a supermarket aisle.

And do check out out the Partnerships category for pieces specifically
for the Not for Sale Campaign, supporting victims of human trafficking. I
have my eye on the lime-orange beaded Reyna necklace (shown at top) which will look sweet with this summer’s colors, or the Avila bangles in a group, especially at $12 each.

Grab something for yourself or a woman you love. With styles like these,
prices like these, and goals like these, it’s hard to think of a reason
not to. –Liz
