I’ve really grown to love those compact totes that are so common these days, but one thing I don’t like is just how common some of them are. If you want a spare bag to tote around that still has the look of one that’s not a spare at all, here’s a few beautiful options.

The George Roll-Up Tote
from Brooklyn’s Goodship is calling my mid-century loving name. I love
the funky pink and black pattern which reminds me of a vintage couch I
had back in my younger, more interesting days.
If retro isn’t your bag (ha) there are half a dozen other fabulous styles to choose from including this cute preppy nautical tote featuring a kelly green rope knot. So amazing for summer. And
they all roll up–thus the name–into a super compact size that you can
tuck into a bigger bag or stash in the car for grocery runs or library
Designer Julie Maclean has quite the design pedigree, with
years in the textile biz. Now, she designs and prints all her work
locally on organic cotton canvas with the help of small purveyors. Which
is so Brooklyn. In a good way. –Liz
