Shoe shopping with my oldest daughter, now 8, has become quite a struggle. Not only are her feet hard to fit, they’re also tiny for her age. That means the cooler older-girl styles often don’t come in her size. But that all changed when I found these gorgeous sandals.
Since they arrived in our house, my daughter has not taken off her Avarcas Pons sandals, a brand I’d seen around but never actually tried. Who knew they’re handmade in Spain using soft leather and recycled tires (cool, right?).
The classic colors are the perfect casual spring and summer shoe for both boys and girls, and come in a host of colors. Or go with metallic (above) for something a little dressier.
I couldn’t resist the glitter sandals, which thankfully have not become deglittered sandals, even after a week full of heavy wear.
And I love the Frailera Style, which might be a good choice for your littler girls or boys, or very active kiddos.
I’d say fit is a big deal due to the sling-back design of the classic style. We ordered her exact current size, which fit her long thin foot perfectly, even though they appeared to be a little wide when I pulled them out of the box. I have to admit that I’m surprised the heel doesn’t slip at all, which just shows the high quality and worksmanship of the shoe.
And yes, these are definitely on the higher price point for a kids’ sandal, but considering how many pairs of cheap sandals my girls tear through in a season, it’s worth it to me. Plus, in my house, these will be worn by three girls, not just one. The only problem: deciding which pair to get for myself. (Hooray for adult sizes!) –Kristen
