Cooking’s my thing, but I’m in the mood to celebrate spring with some yummy cocktails, thank you very much! Seasonal sips are a fun, grown-up way to savor vibrant spring flavors as we coax the sun out of winter hiding. So put on your new rose-colored shades, grab a fab light scarf, and let’s raise a glass to spring with these 6 delicious spring libations. Cheers! -Stacie

It seems only appropriate to start with this super fresh, sparkling emerald green Kiwi Capiroska (above). This drink is similar to a caipirinha, the Brazilian national cocktail made with cachaca sugar cane liquor, but is made with easier-to-find vodka instead. Jenny from Spoon Fork Bacon tweaked her recipe until she landed on this version. Jackpot!

Spring Cocktails: Rhubarb Fennel Fizz at Cool Mom Picks

Nothing says spring like a Rhubarb Fennel Fizz. Okay, I never would have thought to make a cocktail with rhubarb or fennel, but Kimberly from The Year in Food is definitely onto something great here. She’s dubbed this drink The Tippler. Not sure why, but I’ll happily tip. How about you?

Spring Cocktails: Ginger Plum Sangria at Cool Mom Picks

One of my favorite spring transitions is moving from red wine to rose. If you’re with me, you’ve got to give this Ginger Plum Sangria from Camille Styles a try. I love the sound of mixing rose with plum puree, mint, lime and ginger. It sounds perfectly crisp, with just enough bite to kick off the new season with a bang.

Spring Cocktails: Blackberry Smash at Cool Mom Picks

A few years ago I became obsessed with the Kentucky Derby and overdid big hats (not a statement you can comfortably make more than once on the playgrounds of Brooklyn) and mint juleps. With this year’s Derby right around the corner, I’m ready to return to the mint julep…but with a twist. This Blackberry Smash posted on Design*Sponge by the adorable couple behind Pictures & Pancakes just might be ticket. Plum and blackberries take amber whiskey from winter into spring, and make this minty libation an unexpected Derby sip that even traditionalists–in all their hatted glory–can love.

Spring Cocktails: Pimm's Cup at Cool Mom Picks

Some say that the Pimm’s Cup is a summer cocktail, but I especially love this drink in spring. Maybe it’s because it has an herbal note that reminds me of fresh grass or the fact that you serve it with a cucumber spear. I mean, can you get more springy than garnishing your drink with a vegetable?

Spring Cocktails: Grapefruit Sake Mojito at Cool Mom Picks

Oh, hello, grapefruit sake mojito! I think I’ve just met my signature spring ’13 cocktail. This new instant favorite from Margaret and Michelle of the fab blog Neato! Bonito couldn’t sound more refreshing. And subbing sake for the rum called for in a traditional mojito means that I can actually have more than one, a quality every hard-working mama needs in her go-to drink. Am I right?
