A hostess gift that she’ll treasure forever. Or she’d better, because she can’t resell it.

Sometimes a great bottle of wine or a handmade candle makes the perfect hostess gift. But when you need something extra special, I think I’ve found a winner. This custom personalized wooden serving tray is simply gorgeous. A fabulous hostess, housewarming, or wedding gift, the tray is handcrafted from reclaimed cherrywood and features lovely design details, like the custom engraving with the names of your choice and the rope handles. If you see a different design in the shop that you’d prefer, just convo the artist. They’ll whip up exactly what you’d like to make this personalized gift even...

Baby gift sets, and how to make them more personal

We’re happy to offer up these baby shower gift ideas on behalf of our sponsor, Munchkin. And don’t miss a huge giveaway below! We admit it: We all want to be the ones at the shower who hand over a gift and get the biggest “awwww…” from the crowd when it’s open. Not that it’s a contest. Still, if you want to put together something extra-special, it’s about putting more thought into the gift than just clicking a box on an online registry. The best part is, you don’t even have to spend a lot of money to do...

Meet the cool new kids on the blocks

Right now, we’re having a blast exploring Wee You-Things Blocks. Funky and bright with modern designs, the blocks offer three brain stimulation puzzles, but they’re also perfect for simple...

They’ll scream for this ice cream truck playhouse

As soon as school wraps up for the year, my kids want to know when the ice cream truck is going to come jingling down the street. But I know they’d scream even louder for their very own ice cream truck to manage any day of the year. Famous OTO’s cardboard ice cream truck is a little playhouse with special details and a clever design that turns it into a mini food truck. The neighborhood kids will come running to play (even without the bells), but unlike the real thing, this one is even better it only requires imagination...

Father’s Day recipes for breakfast and brunch the kids can help make

I loved Stacie’s recent post on Father’s Day recipes all using bacon, but some of them are arguably more for the semi-pro home cook to take on as opposed to say…the kids. If your kids are into helping you whip up something yummy and easy for dad, here are some recipes for breakfast or brunch that any parent would be thrilled to have the children make. Also, clean up. And psst…if they do a good job, maybe have older kids start making you breakfast every weekend? Just a thought.   Sour Cream Pancakes I’m smitten for this rich pancake...

The coolest embroidery kits just for kids, hold the needle!

With all the fun my oldest daughter had making the DIY cross-stitch keychains and necklaces I found on Etsy, I can’t wait to try this awesome embroidery project with her.   This amazing DIY embroidery kit for kids is perfect even for your younger but still dexterous kids since it doesn’t require a needle. Instead, it uses scoubidou tubes (don’t ask me to pronounce that!), which are thin, plastic “threads” that are easy for littler children to manipulate through the wooden holes.    And the final product, with a little help from an adult to attach the metal hangers,...

Say cheese. This fun LEGO Polaroid “camera” has us grinning.

Summertime is serious LEGO time around here. The kids and I are always looking for novel ways to enhance LEGO play. So I’m really digging this new LEGO hack (meaning it’s not an official LEGO product, but it’s officially fun). This groovy “camera” comes from LEGO wizard Chris McVeigh. It takes ninety-nine pieces of brick-building goodness, and some sweet Instagram-y looking decals really seal the deal.  Although the camera doesn’t actually work (well, duh), it’s fantastic for imaginative play. My favorite part? It even has an ejectable photo tile. Who knows? Maybe the next edition will sport some working parts....
