FEED plus Target: a collaboration we can get behind.

I’m a big fan of the FEED mission, which sells products to directly feed schoolchildren both at home through Feeding America and abroad via the UN’s World Food Program. Whenever I carry my FEED bag, I’m reminded of the good it did. So I’m excited about their collaboration with Target–but it’s ending soon. So if you haven’t checked it out, now is a great time.        The FEED + Target collaboration includes so many kinds of products; check the Target website and there’s surely something in there that you want, especially considering it supports Feeding America. The cutest backpacks and bags for little kids just got cuter

Back to school shopping season gets earlier every year, doesn’t it? I have to say, there’s something about a shiny new backpack ready for new learning and new adventures that makes the season more fun. I mean, for the kids. Of course. We’ve loved, owned, and cherished Beatrix NY kids’ backpacks, wheelie bags and lunchbags since the day they launched. And while the adorable owl and the dinosaur are old friends, I’m happy to see some new designs added to the menagerie. The new little kids’ backpacks add some slightly more feminine options, like Katarina the Frog (Katarina was...

Collecting treasures from the garden. Hopefully not the live ones though.

I have to say that one of my proud parent moments is realizing my girls aren’t afraid of bugs or worms or things they see in the garden. Of course I can’t take credit for it at all (thanks, grandparents!) but nonetheless, I love encouraging their affection for the treasures they find and collect as the rummage through the grass. The garden treasure box at Romp is one of the most lovely little gifts for curious explorers and collectors of any age. There are little boxes for storing flowers, leaves, acorns, feathers and more, each marked with charming illustrations...

Happy Birthday! Six perfect party tunes from our fave kindie artists

Sure, we all know what song to sing when the cake comes out, but the day becomes even more special when the music cranking at the party is all about your birthday girl or boy. Four of our favorite kids’ bands from the Pacific Northwest, Recess Monkey, The Not-Its, The Harmonica Pocket and Johnny Bregar, recently collaborated on a unique (and totally original) collection of birthday songs for kids. One baby shower game we love. And it’s printable. And free.

I am not shy about my dislike for baby shower games. When people ask, “So then what do you do at a baby shower party?” I wonder, well, what do you do at any party? Cool people, good food and drinks usually do the trick. But then I saw this adorable baby shower game as a part of a new set of baby shower printables and I thought…okay. That could be fun. At Love vs Design, there’s a brand new set of free baby shower printables including these awesome baby Mad Libs, with a Western-themed design. Starting with “My...

Taro Gomi’s new board books. Not bored books.

When there is a new board book from Taro Gomi, I am always interested. Because that means a near guarantee that I’ll have fun reading it to my kids too. And hooray–the prolific writer/illustrator has not just one but three great new board books out. Wiggle by Taro Gomi is a delightful little board book which, in the spirit of Pat the Bunny and other “interactive” books, allows you to stick a finger through a hole and wiggle it, creating a cat’s tail, elephant’s trunk, crocodile’s fang and more. No plot, no surprise ending–just fun for the youngest babies...
