I’ve been a fan of booties, or short ankle boots, ever since I can remember. (Just take one quick look at my closet.) But they were limited to closed-toe weather months until I discovered the joys of open-toed booties. Now, they are my go-to shoe style for nearly everything. I even own two of the same style in different colors, I love them that much, and hooray for those of you in the same camp, because right now open-toed booties are everywhere!

They can actually help make a shorter skirt or dress seem a little more um, age-appropriate, for those of us well out of our twenties, and dress up a longer skirt or pants. Just a word of fashion advice: You have to be pretty fashion-forward to pull off tights under them. You’re better off going nude, and showing off those pretty painted toes.

Here, 6 of my favorites new styles that I would love to get my feet into this spring. While sipping a tropical drink. At a beachside bar. Far from now. A girl can dream, right?

Stuart Weitzman In & Out Ankle Booties (pictured above)
Stuart Weitzman shoes are definitely a designer splurge, at least for me, but the subtle pattern and awesome nude color give these the perfect combination of style and versatility. I can pretty much imagine wearing these with every single thing in my wardrobe, save my gym clothes.  If you love them, I’d keep an eye on them and grab them when they go on sale, which they surely will mid-season. Vince Camuto Kalista Peep Toe Leather Bootie | Cool Mom Picks

Vince Camuto Kalista Peep Toe Leather Bootie
The two pairs of booties I own and love are by Vince Camuto and I cannot tell you how comfortable they are. I’m usually a black or brown sandal kind of girl, but I’m loving the white for summer, especially for evening with a pair of sexy shorts or a pencil skirt. The black elastic center just adds a sleek detail and the cutouts are amazing. ($138.95, Nordstrom)

Michael Kors MK Plate Bootie | Cool Mom Picks

Michael Kors MK Plate Bootie
If you’re looking for a more conservative but still fashionable shoe for work that could transition into evening, I’m liking these booties from Michael Kors. With a lower heel and the buckle detail, they’re a nice alternative to a pump, and great paired with a skirt or pants suit. ($164.95, Nordstrom)

Steve Madden Cammii Boot | Cool Mom Picks

Steve Madden Cammii Boot
I’m digging the wedge heel and the metallic leather on these booties which just happen to be on sale right now in limited sizes. The taupe leather option is great as well and might get more play depending on your wardrobe and how daring you like to be with your shoes. The lower stacked heel would make these fabulous for everyday wear if you want something dressier than a flat. ($64.97, on sale Nordstrom down from $169!)

Steve Madden Nonstp Bootie at Piperlime | Cool Mom PIcksSteve Madden Nonstp Ankle Boot
Another pick from Steve Madden, this leather boot comes in three colors but the natural is a perfect neutral for warmer weather when the lighter colors start coming out. The coverage makes it a little more school pick-up friendly, but still stylish and a great choice for skinny jeans. And if you were ever scared of wearing a 3-inch heel, the stacked heel on this one should make it pretty comfy option. ($100, Piperlime)

For a dressy option, I’m drooling over these black lace booties from Cool Mom Picks fave Rebecca Minkoff. These are perfect if you’re looking for something a little edgier for your LBD. ($325, Shopbop)
