I’m a huge fan of handmade gifts, but rarely have the time or the patience to actually make anything myself. But when I saw these DIY polaroid photo tea bags on Photojojo (love them), I knew I had hit the jackpot for DIY Valentine’s Day gifts for the grandparents and teachers in our life.

With some card stock, double-sided tape, and a bunch of your favorite photos (off Instagram perhaps?), you can whip up some adorable photo tea bags for Valentine’s Day, or really any gift-giving holiday. It’s completely frivolous and ridiculous–and yet, totally adorable. You know if you have someone in your life who would appreciate something like this.

I’m planning on using PicMonkey to resize my photos down to about 1-inch for printing, and while I don’t have the fancy craft board and knife, I’ve got scissors, which I think will work just as well.

For a fun twist, you can add patterned paper like above, then my suggestion: Pop them all in a cool gift mug. Or a tea cup, depending on the level of tea snobbery you’re dealing with. As to what will happen to the photos after the tea bag has been used, I’d cut them free from the string and just put them up on a bulletin board. Provided they’re  not all tea-stained. Although knowing crafters, that could make them pretty interesting too.
