In an effort to tame my locks sans chemicals, I rounded up the best anti-frizz hair products for the summer for you all. Because I know that I’m not alone here! At the first sign of humidity in the air, my thick and wavy hair goes crazy. Forget blow drying– the minute I step outside, I’ll basically have a mushroom on my head. A frizzy, frizzy mushroom.

Many of my friends swear by their keratin straightening treatments–and their hair does look pretty amazing–but I’d rather pass on the formaldehyde, thank you very much. If you’re in the same boat, here are some of the best anti-frizz products that let you beat the frizz without harsh chemicals.

Bumble and bumble defrizz | Cool Mom Picks

Bumble and Bumble Bb Defrizz Serum
The amazing Bb defrizz serum from Bumble and bumble ($28) is a classic. It’s been around for ages and truly does what it says. (Or editor Liz swears by it too!) A few drops on wet or dry hair makes it so shiny and eliminates the frizz. It’s the perfect size for travel or a beach bag, too. It seems expensive for a small bottle but you really just need a few drops at a time, even on very long thick hair.

R + Co Tinsel Smoothing Oil anti-frizz hair product

Tinsel Smoothing Oil
Everything about the Tinsel Smoothing Oil ($24) from newbie hair brand R + CO (co-founded in part by über-stylist Garren) is cool. Right down to the space-agey bottle. Made with vitamin E,  argan and jojoba oils and free of nasties like parabens and sulfates, just a few drops of this glossy serum tackles flyaways and frizziness. You can use a couple drops on wet hair and then again after your hair is dry to make it super shiny. This is one anti-frizz hair product that has gotten some major play for me.

OGX Kukui Oil Anti-Frizz Hydrating Oil

OGX Kukui Oil
I love spraying this OGX Kukui Oil Anti-Frizz Hydrating Oil ($6.99) all over my damp hair after a shower. Kukui oil is from a native Hawaiian nut known for its moisturizing and natural de-frizzing properties. Surfers even use kukui oil to waterproof their boards, so it must repel moisture pretty darn well.

Drybar Cream Soda Smoothing Cream | Cool Mom Picks

Drybar Cream Soda Smoothing Cream
I swear by the styling properties of Cream Soda Smoothing Cream from Drybar ($27). I smooth a nickel-sized amount into towel-dried hair and then twist it up in a clip to let it air dry. The end result: frizz-free waves. On super humid days, I mix it with one of the frizz-fighting serums above and then smear it all over my hair.

Rahua Elixir | Cool Mom Picks

Amazon Beauty Rahua Elixir
Rahua Elixir ($175) is a total splurge. Okay, a ridiculous splurge. But for those of you beauty product addicts looking for a luxurious, all-natural answer to taming the frizz, it doesn’t get any better than this. Made with pure rahua oil, sourced from the Amazon (really), just a few drops a day will nourish the hair and scalp deeply. To put in in perspective, it is cheaper–and a whole lot healthier–than a keratin treatment, and a little truly goes a long way.

Wen Styling Creme | Cool Mom Picks

Wen Sweet Almond Mint Styling Cream
The Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme from Wen ($24) is actually a three-in-one product. It’s a leave-in conditioner/gel/polishing gloss that acts like a barrier on the hair. The cocktail of key ingredients, include dimethicone (a silicone based ingredient which adds shine and repels water), organic aloe vera (to heal and moisturize) and Pro-vitamin B5 (to strengthen the hair shaft), makes this styling product a terrific medicine cabinet essential, whether you’re air-drying or blow-drying.

EDITED TO ADD: There’s currently a big class action lawsuit against Wen’s shampoo and while we didn’t experience any negative issues ourselves with the styling cream, we would definitely not recommend the Wen products right now in light of hundreds of complaints.
