Each year, my beloved Tea Collection (my girls absolutely live in the stuff) finds another country around the world for inspiration and I’m really digging the new Bauhaus collection for Fall/Winter 2014 that just launched this week. (Can you handle fall fashion yet? Are we ready?)

Taking its cues from the early 20th century school of art and bright colors — not from Peter Murphy — here are a few of the dresses I’m loving that I know my daughters will beg for, should they happen to read this post over my shoulder.

Also, if you’re into art and design, take a minute to read up on the backstory for each of the new designs. I love learning about all the experimental artists and animators and textile designers whose work inspired such a very cool line.

Tea collection Bauhaus inspired colorblock dresses for girls

Berliner Colorblock Dress (on left); Magdeburg Colorblock Dress over Dessau Striped Leggings. Yay for colorblocking! So glad to see it’s still in style, because when you have kids who love mixing and matching patterns (that aren’t always quite made for such mixing and matching), a colorblock dress to hold it all together makes it so much easier.

Driecke Graphic Print Dress on right, shown with Bauhaus Bang Leggings and Chambray Quilted Vest. The high tops pull it all together and make even play clothes more stylish.

Bauhaus inspired Rhine colorblock dress for girls from Tea Collection

Rhein colorblock dress for girls  Great shades of blue and I love those little cap sleeves.

Striped pocket dress for girls from Tea Collection Bauhaus line

Gertrud Striped Pocket Dress, such perfect colors. And stripes never get old on kids. Check the page for how this is styled with a really cute cardigan.

Black and white floral shift dress for girls from Tea Collection Bauhaus line

Black and white floral short sleeve shift dress is cute on its own, but as weather gets cooler, stick a sweater over it, or a long-sleeved tee under it in a bright, fun color.

Tea Collection Lyrical Shapes dress for girls from Bauhaus collection

One of my very favorite sis this Lyrical Shapes Dress designed by Anna Niestroj of Berlin’s Blink Blink. It feels like a walk through a modern art museum. Which I suppose is the point.

As you can see, everything is really made for layering. You can grab a couple of Tea dresses, and some basic leggings and sweaters and have outfits for a whole week. Or a whole year. Or longer, since these are the clothes that hold up through multiple washes, and even multiple kids. I think I can safely say thanks, from moms everywhere.

Visit Tea Collection and check out the new Bauhaus line for girls in sizes 2-12…and boys too!
