Years ago, we discovered the wonderful faux leather handbag designs of Crystalyn Kae, and became fast fans. Our love of her work was only solidified after the breaking news that lots of faux leather handbags contain high levels of lead, but hers were not among them. Still, it’s been a while since I’ve checked in with her shop and wow, there are some great new handbags out for fall, including a Women’s Hobo Bag which comes in seven cool colors.
One of the benefits of vegan leather is that it’s way lighter than real leather, water-resistant, and can be more durable too; you won’t get those same scratches and marks if that’s something that you don’t love. I happen to be partial to the ale brown topstitch bag (which is popular enough that the large size is sold out for now) because it’s got that earthy but still stylish look that’s hard to come by. If you want something a little more day-into-night, check out the navy.
They’re all made in NYC too, which makes me more confident about the quality control and safety, especially around kids.
Also smashing in navy: The faux leather metier tote which is a great size for a laptop or tablet along with way too much other stuff, if you’re like me. The glazed fabric makes it feel not crunchy at all, and I love all the the snaps and zippered pockets. And there are six other colors if navy isn’t your bag. Ha. I hear women love it as a diaper bag that doesn’t look like a diaper bag, which isn’t surprising at all.
The one drawback of these made to order handbags: shipping takes a week or two. But hey, at least shipping is free. That’s worth a little bit of a wait.
