Like so many of you with kids who start to hit six, seven, eight…you realize that your favorite, go-to clothing brands either stop making clothes that fit your kids, or you see the styles start to get a bit more uh, adult than you might be ready for. (Hint to mall stores: Our second grade girls realllly don’t need ruching below a v-neck to draw attention to breasts they don’t have.) It’s why I’ve always been so grateful for brands like Tea and Hanna Andersson whose clothes grow with my kids. And now, I get to add nununu to that list of cool clothes for tweens and big kids.

We named it an editor’s pick as one of our favorite clothing lines for little kids last year, and now I think it will earn the same accolade for bigger kids. It’s so great to see their awesome, fashion-forward, slightly edgy but super wearable clothes now going up to a size 14.

There’s lots of cute stuff for girls and boys in the line, but honestly I like that a lot of their leggings, sweats, super fun hoodies and stylish jackets are wonderfully unisex.  And despite the imagery, I can assure you they don’t automatically turn your kids into brooding young adults. Mine always look pretty happy when they wear things with stars on them, personally.

You can find nununu clothes at lots of indie boutiques online and also swankier stores like Barney’s–where there’s a sweet sale on clothes like their trademark star sweatshirt in limited sizes. I love waiting for sales because nununu does not make the cheapest clothes; but as someone whose daughter has been wearing a cotton nununu dress nearly every week for more than a year–and it still looks fantastic–this is the kind of clothing I’m more than happy to invest in.
