If all your kids want for Christmas is more LEGO pieces to add to their never big enough collection, they’ll be thrilled to discover that you can even cover the Christmas tree with those beloved bricks in the form of LEGO ornaments. Here are three great shops to start to help them on their quest for LEGO domination of the world! Or okay, maybe just Christmas tree domination.

Modern LEGO holiday ornaments DIY kits by Chris McVeigh at PowerPig

If your LEGO fanatics like the building part of LEGO most of all, they’ll be thrilled to receive one of LEGO building master Chris McVeigh’s LEGO ornament kits. I absolutely love the modern designs and cool color combinations, and several of my favorite picks are even on sale. Found at his Powerpig online shop which we’ve featured before, each kit includes a custom ornament with building instructions on his site, to ensure you never have to worry about misplacing the instructions.

If you’re looking for a fun stocking stuffer instead of an ornament, don’t miss his other incredible kits, from his retro television and build your own LEGO computer mini kits to this awesome Brick Sketch Kit portrait of Santa himself. (Please note that all kits are being delivered by Canada Post’s Tracked Packet service so that they’ll arrive in time for the big day–but hurry!)

LEGO Nutcracker holiday ornaments from Ornaments 4 You on Etsy

We have loved Ornaments 4 Charity for years, not only because their LEGO holiday ornaments are so creative, but also because 100% of the proceeds benefit children living in homeless and domestic violence shelters. Their adorable Build-It Reindeer Kit (shown at top) was featured in our Holiday Gift Guide as an awesome gift for kids under $15, and for good reason: My kids would have a blast building it and then hanging it on the tree. Then there’s this Nutcracker who delights my own ballerina: Look at that mustache! Other ornaments come fully assembled and some can be personalized with a child’s name if you order in time.

LEGO holiday ornaments built by Our Forever House

Then, there’s the DIY option. If you already have a bajillion LEGO bricks of all shapes and sizes, you can do what the the kids at Our Forever House did and use some of the building instructions over on the LEGO site to create your own holiday ornaments or decorations without needing to order a single thing. Just visit LEGO’s Building Instructions and search for holiday keywords like Santa, Christmas tree, or snowman, and check out the instructions provided. Older kids can even tweak the plans to create their own unique builds, like a Christmas tree with multicolored lights or an entire snowman family. A snowfamily?

Actually, if you are like us, you have enough bricks for a snowarmy.

You’ll find lots and lots of LEGO on Cool Mom Picks and Cool Mom Tech. We really, really like LEGO. Except at night, barefoot.
