It’s 3 a.m. and your baby is screaming at the top of her lungs. You are trying to heat up breast milk as quickly as humanly possible. Microwaving creates hot spots and potentially burnt mouths. Placing a bottle in a pot of boiling water makes it bob up and down and almost always burns you. And that fancy bottle warming gadget you registered for? Much more complicated to use than anticipated.

If you’ve ever tried warming breast milk from the fridge or freezer, chances are one of those scenarios rings a bell. That’s why a company called Nutto created  Mama’s Milk Warmer –yes, another milk warming gadget–in the hopes that you won’t have to face that situation again. I’ll admit I was skeptical before trying it myself, but hey, what did I have to lose?

Design-wise, it looks like a giant stainless steel thermos, and that’s essentially what it is — and an effective one at that. Created by a mom and an aerospace engineer, Mama’s Milk Warmer retains tap water heat and has bristles at the top to keep your bottle submerged while it’s being warmed. It’s also large enough to accommodate bottles of all sizes.

Insert your bottle into Nutto Mama's Milk Warmer to heat it up!

All you have to do is fill it with hot water, insert your bottle of breast milk (I don’t see why it couldn’t work for formula, too), close the lid and wait 3-5 minutes for a ready-to-feed bottle. A little longer perhaps for frozen milk. No batteries or plugs are required, which makes it potentially ideal for travel, too.

My one piece of advice is to be careful not to insert the bottle too deep inside because it becomes difficult to remove it from the bristles. Otherwise, nice little registry item. Nutto’s milk warmer may not be as sleek or fancy as some bottle warming gadgets out there, but haven’t you found that simple usually works best?
