According to that rascal of a groundhog last week, it looks like winter will be sticking around the Northeast for six more weeks. I’m pulling out my Silver Linings Playbook, and choosing to see it as an extension on snuggle parties with my youngster. And everyone knows that warm, comfy PJs are an absolute must for proper snuggling.  So here are 6 cute and cozy — and above all, durable — pajamas for kids I love, from baby up to school age.

We love that they are built to last (no holes in the knees after two wearings, yay!) and because they’re made expressly for curling up in when the weather outside is frightful. The best part: Quite a few are starting to go on sale.

Hanna Andersson pajamas for kids. The best!

1. Hanna Anderson Long John Pajamas in Organic Cotton
The popular Swedish designer keeps the colorful stripes trend from her latest adorable Baby Collection going with these smart-looking organic cotton knit jammies. Soft and comfy, but tough enough to handle weekly rounds with the washing machine, the snug-fit, Striped Long John pajamas have been a hit with our own families, even making it from child #1 to child #2 and often to child #3.

Another plus: 15 percent of the profits from the signature pajama sets goes to Raising a Reader, a wonderful early literacy nonprofit. (Hanna Andersson, $38)

Skylar Luna Motorcycle pajamas for kids

2. Skylar Luna
We raved about this line of organic kids jammies when they launched a few years ago. And now with these motorcycle motif long sleeve kids pajamas added to the mix of neutrals and basic patterns we’re still singing the eco-conscious California-based line’s praises. Made from Turkish organic cotton,  the close-fitting two-piece set will keep your kids feeling ultra comfy and looking cool. I also like that the sizes range from 12 months to 10 years, so big kids can still get in on the bedtime styling action. (SkylarLuna, $39)

Masala Baby Organic pajamas for kids

3. Masala Baby Organic Cotton Pajamas
Cool Mom Picks is definitely not new to the Indian inspired cuteness of Masala Baby, the vibrant organic kids wear line based out of NYC.  We’ve been digging this socially and environmentally conscious company for years now. But what is new? These soft, 100 percent organic cotton jammies for kids. Sized from baby to 10, durable, comfortable and bursting with the fun prints and colors that we’ve come to expect from the company, these pajamas are a definite hit in my house. My almost-6-year-old son is a PJ aficionado, and he gave his set two thumbs up. From bed.  (Marsala Baby, $39)

Little Twig and Sparrow pajamas for kids: Soft, organic, beautifully fit

4. Little Twig and Sparrow Pajamas for Kids
What good is a pair of kids pajamas that fall apart after two spins in the washer and dryer? Not very. Durability is definitely not an issue with Little Twig and Sparrow‘s two-piece sets which our editor Liz absolutely raves about. In fact, these super soft pima cotton long John-style pajamas will stay looking fresh and new after many toss-and-tumbles in the laundry room. Plus, the low-key, gender-neutral color combinations and styles scored big points with our older kids, too. (Little Twig and Sparrow, $40)

Under the Nile Organic Long John style pajamas for kids

5. Under the Nile Long Johns
Dress your young ones in these soft rib knit numbers as a first layer to face the blustery winter weather or as the last layer before you tuck them in and turn on the night light. Made from 100% organic Egyptian cotton (thus, the name), these affordable sets will have kids from baby to 6T feeling as snug as cute bugs.  (Under the Nile, prices start at $14 on sale)

Jammies by Pret a Porter pajamas for babies

6. Jammies Prêt-à-Porter
The packaging alone made me want to gobble up these cute baby pjs. Each one comes in its own recycled, BPA-free, plastic jam jar should you want to give one as a baby gift. I can imagine the love-nibbling that would go down if I saw a real live baby sporting an actual onesie from the Prêt-à-Porter sweet jar. Cuteness overload, I tell you. Choose a body suit, jumpsuit or two-piece set, the ultra snuggly pieces are perfect for babies, at least until your baby hits 24 pounds. Lots of delicious colors and patterns to consider, too. Just don’t eat the babies. (Jammies NYC, prices start at $25)
