I want to answer my kids’ questions and help them with their homework, but I can’t always drop everything to help them find the answer rightthisverysecondplease–nor do I want my younger ones doing a Google search on their own. Instead, I’m thrilled to have discovered the new DK Find Out! online encyclopedia for kids which offers a solid introduction to a variety of topics in an easy-to-understand format.
Oh, and without pop-up ads, questionable links, or shoddy research and questionable “facts” that sends readers down the wrong path.
Written primarily for kids ages 7-11, DK Find Out is a free resource covering science, math, English, history, geography, the human body, and more. You know, the topics they cover in school and then need to research more to finish their homework. Just search for topics like Ancient Greece, cats, or civil rights, and DK Find Out will present search results for your kids to use to narrow down their area of interest.
Talk about content! There are more than 9,000 photos, 300 animations, 100 videos, and 300 sounds, making this encyclopedia so much cooler than the musty hardcovers I relied on growing up.
There is also a separate area for teachers to create a lesson plan, pulling in information from the site, and even saving their plan to print out at a later time.
I like that I can trust what my kids are going to read on DK Find Out since we’ve long trusted the content in this publisher’s many children’s books we keep on our shelves at home. And if you have a naturally curious child with time to kill, they can fill up their brains by poking around the site, doing quizzes, watching videos, or just discovering cool new facts they can repeat at the dinner table.
