Go ahead, spring. Rain on my parade. There are so many chic women’s rain boots available nowadays that I’d be happy to slosh around in puddles from now until… well, maybe just May. Stylish rain boots may elevate my wet-weather ensemble, but my hair will still be a frizzy mess. Although if my shoes make a big enough statement — and any of the ten rain boots below certainly would — maybe nobody will be looking at my hair.
Plenty of these are investment rain boots, but unless you’re living in the Pacific Northwest and wearing them 200+ days a year, I imagine you’ll get to wear them for years. Lucky you.

Tall or short, there’s nothing more classic than a pair of Hunter rain boots, and now in so many great new styles. I’m obsessing over the ultra-modern color block design of the Hunter Original Short Dazzle rain boots. Liz, I’m learning, has slightly more glamorous preferences: She loves the shiny finish of the Hunter Original High Gloss rain boots. Honestly, you can’t go wrong either way. If my shoe wardrobe consisted of nothing but Loeffler Randall boots, sandals, and flats, I would be one very happy — and very trendy — girl. Alas, I’d settle for just a pair of Fenton Rain Boots, the rainy day version of Loeffler Randall’s popular buckle ankle boots. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such badass rain boots before. Yes, they’re pricey, but they look so great, I’d wear them even on sunny days. ($195, Saks Fifth Avenue)

The glossy black and brown combination of the Coach Talia tall rain boots makes me think of preppy equestrian-style boots — and I’m ok with that. How chic would these look over a pair of skinny jeans? I could even see them being worn with a short floral skirt for contrast. The rain boots get bonus points for the small details like rivets and Coach’s iconic turn-lock. ($148, Zappos)
For many years, I owned a pair of robin’s egg blue rain boots that garnered a bizarrely high number of compliments. My guess is that the unexpected color brightened up gloomy days. I’m thinking the teal-ish version of the Chooka Top Solid Mid rain boot would have the same effect. Any of the color choices, really. ($65, Zappos)

I was shocked to learn that these fashion-forward Plask wedge rain boots were from Tretorn, as in, the sneaker company. The gunmetal and tan color combination is incredibly sophisticated, and if the boots didn’t have that sporty logo around the ankle, you could probably get away with wearing them at work. Though maybe you’ll want to anyway, as they have some amazing insole with Swedish massage technology or something. ($100, Zappos)
For something stylish and ladylike, these Kate Spade New York Romi rain boots scream Charlotte to me. (Yes, that’s a Sex and the City reference. We can still make fashion references to SATC, right?) They’re the same color as my son’s red firefighter rain boots, but the stacked heel and bow detail make them decidedly more feminine. ($150, Zappos Couture)
With a simple silhouette and understated details, these mid-height Shorebird rain boot by Sperry are totally my style. They’re the kind of rain boots that effortlessly work with every type of outfit, from sporty to chic. Plus, they have micro-fleece lining, which is a bonus if you always have cold feet (and not in the getting-married sense). ($78, Sperry)
Admittedly, these Joules Evedon rain boots are not the most utilitarian of my picks. We all questioned whether that big bow hiding in the back was practical, and maybe it’s not. But it turns out it helps tighten the boot to keep them snug. So there. One of the Zappos reviewers who says she even changes it out to suit her mood. (Smart lady.) The French navy color is oh so pretty, and if the ribbon gets soaked, so be it. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made in the name of fashion. ($164.95, Nordstrom)
