This past week I was fortunate to attend the New York Baby Show as a guest of New York Family Magazine. In the past, we’ve found some of our favorite new baby gear there (Ubbi Diaper Pails!), and there is a lot. I’m talking both products and and services that range from the basics to the genius to, okay, the ridiculous. But you won’t see those here, because my job is to weed all those out for you.

I had quite a few favorites but here are my top five picks of new baby products that stood out from the rest, and that I think new parents will really want to check out a little closer.

favorite new baby products: bity bean compact baby carrier

Bity Bean Ultra Compact baby carrier
What an ideal time to discover this baby carrier as it’s a perfect find for the summer months ahead. Lightweight, breathable and it can go in the water. Hallelujah. Plus it rolls up small for easy packing.  To the beach with baby, here I come! ($59.95, Bitybean)

Jane twig wood foldable highchair
Twig highchair by Jané

While it won’t be available in the states until late summer, Jané’s Twig foldable wooden highchair is a great find for me, as I happened to be hunting for something exactly like this. It’s a sleek and functional item that looks good with your home decor, and still tucks away easily when you need the space. Great for city dwellers with small spaces or smaller kitchens, should you want a chair that looks like real furniture, but don’t have the space to keep it out all the time. Most of those kinds of high chairs tend to look more disposable.
($250 at Jané coming late summer, 2015)

Gorgeous new teething toys from Chewbeads: The Gramercy Stroller Toy
Chewbeads Baby Gramercy stroller toy/Car seat attachment

We have long been a fan of Chewbeads which have gotten us over the hump of some hard teething times. And we just love their newest registry must-have which we featured a few months back, since it’s those same safe, silicone Chewbeads on as a toy that attaches to your stroller or car seat. I love that it’s attached so it won’t fall and get dirty, or lost while on the move. But it’s kind of pretty, like most strollers these days.

Great new gifts for babies: Lucy Darling first year memory books are lovely and modern

Lucy Darling baby memory books
I am a big fan of designer Lucy Darling, whose clever memory books we’ve featured here, and whose lovely work even hangs in my own baby’s nursery. So I was very excited to meet Lucy herself in person at The NY Baby Show.  She was there introducing her tremendously charming new baby memory books which come in two designs: Little Artist, and Little Animal Lover. It’s a perfectly sweet baby shower item or gift for new parents.

Franck and Fischer baby gym

Franck & Fischer modern baby gear
This Danish designer pulled me in with their painfully cute kid stuffs- from cuddly lovies with compatible furniture and hand knitted rattles and cuddle blankets to mobiles and a fantastic baby gym.  With a such wide selection of products it’s impressive how each piece is sweeter than last.
