Jewelry with embroidery and lace? I know, I know. Very dainty. Very breakable. But still. So pretty!

I’ve gone through all the stages of mom jewelry — from chewable beads to no (pullable!) stud earrings. Now that my kids are old enough to avoid snatching my favorite pearls, I’m into more delicate looks and longer chains, but I like something unique, something with an edge. These pretty handmade pendants and earrings deliver, big time. And you can even have something custom-made from your wedding dress or other lace-y keepsake.

This new Quaintrelle line from Ceci Leibovitz is handmade using vintage lace and fabrics and charming embroidery done by hand. Each piece of fabric magic is set in antiqued brass. There’s Edwardian lace from 1910 and Victorian lace, or you can send in a piece of your grandmother’s lace, a swatch from your wedding gown, or even that pretty handkerchief you found at the antique market. Ceci is glad to work with you to design a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself or as a gift — I know my grandmother would love to see her mother’s hand-tatted table runner made into something wearable.

Edwardian lace earrings by Ceci Leibovitz are so pretty!

Custom lace pendants from Ceci Leibovitz -- so gorgeous.

I was lucky enough to receive one of Ceci’s embroidered pendants, and it’s already received loads of compliments. The combination of satin and embroidery is so classic but fresh, and the mauve goes with everything. I also love it layered with other slender brass necklaces to combine vintage with a more modern, boho look.

And I am happy the prices are so reasonable, $35–65, since my 10-year old daughter just asked for one of her own. Because, what’s old is in. Of course, to her, my Nirvana shirt is vintage.
