We love when big brands put energy toward doing good, especially when it positively impacts the lives of children. That’s why we’re so pleased to be teaming up with JCPenney, to help spread the word about their wonderful new Pair Up program and just in time for back-to-school season, we really hope you’ll check it out.
Essentially JCPenney and the Y are partnering to help get clothing basics, like socks and underwear, out to underserved kids across the country.
The *stats from a national survey are pretty sobering:
-Nearly half of all US kid are considered low-income.
– 40% of low-income parents worry about their child having enough socks and underwear
– 55% of children who did not have underwear and socks to wear wanted to skip school or refused to go, because they were embarrassed.
– 46% of parents living in poverty say underwear is among the hardest item to find at second-hand stores, garage sales or through friends and family.
To learn more, take a look at this eye-opening video about the Pair Up program. We think you’ll see why we really wanted to be involved with this.
If you want to help, you can too. It’s easy.
JCPenney is generously donating a pack of socks or underwear to the Y for every pack purchased at their store, up to 750,000 in all.
All you have to do is head to your local JCPenney between August 1st to 15th, and while you’re getting all your back-to-school shopping done (affordably!) you’ll know you’re also supporting a fantastic cause.
Also, don’t miss our Facebook Live about back to school shopping which is up on our Facebook page right now! Liz and Kristen, along with our kids, shared our best sanity-saving back-to-school shopping and organization tips, answered reader questions, and got some awesome tips right from our community all to help make life a little easier during this busy time!
And of course, we explained more about why we think the JCPenney Pair Up program is such an incredible initiative. We really hope you’ll check it out!
Thanks to our JCPenney for helping so many kids in need with the Pair Up program, and for giving parents such terrific value when it comes to our back-to-school shopping. Our wallets are grateful!
