Peeled organic fruit snacks – Paradise found.

“Snack” is no longer a bad word in my house. Once upon a time in my mind, one box of baked veggie sticks used to cause a downward spiral straight to childhood obesity and school drop-outs. Welcome to my neurotic brain. Of course my rational brain knows that healthy snacks are a great energy booster and tantrum-avoider so I try to stock the cabinets thoughtfully. I really like having discovered mess-free, take anywhere Peeled Snacks. This lightly dried organic fruit has no added sugar or fat. Since they’re only lightly dried, the fruit is still soft and easy to...

Let’s just pretend spring is here, shall we?

I have one word for this time of year and it’s not nice. Stores are featuring spring clothes and outdoor toys, but outside my front door there are still the last vestiges of frozen snow, and I’m sure it’s not the last of it for the season. So, for now, I’m going to do what any sane, design-centric gal will do when she’s hit with a bad case of spring fever. Redecorate! Sort of. You can add a few sunny touches to your playroom or children’s room with the new wall decals from Wallcandy Arts. The removable Happy Flowers...

Lift a leaf and learn about a tree

I have a soft spot for good quality wooden toys. I like them so much I find myself decorating my daughter’s room with them, and these handmade, wood puzzles from Just Hatched are no exception. They’re much too pretty to keep in a drawer with a variety of lovely colors and themes like leaves, moon phases, hearts (for Valentine’s Day), simple shapes and more. The Wooden Leaf Puzzle won Etsy’s Earth Day Voter category and it’s also my favorite. Lift each leaf and see the name of the tree the leaf comes from. With the Moon Phases Puzzle, kids...

Be still my beating heart… shoes with hearts.

My mom gets teary-eyed when talking about a pair of red Mary Jane shoes I had as a little girl and so I’ve always envisioned getting a similar pair for my daughter. And then I saw these red Mary Jane shoes with white hearts. Seriously. Can it get any cuter? See Kai Run’s Smaller Collection for babies and toddlers does it again with their handcrafted leather Monica shoes. Mixing the perfect amount of sweet and modern, the Monica shoes are ideal for Valentine’s Day but can also be worn well into the spring and summer. The whole Smaller collection...

You can heart punch all over my page, any day.

We’re perpetual fans of Martha Stewart’s craft supplies and if you’re a DIY-er, it’s a good investment for Valentine’s Cards and crafts this month. Their new heart punch aptly called Heart Punch All Over the Page lets you achieve the impossible–an absolutely perfect heart shape anywhere on the page. Even in the center. For someone like me (an imperfect crafter with ridiculously high standards), this heart punch is a coveted tool. For someone like my daughter (a three-year-old who expects me to create perfection), this is a headache saver. We’ll be using it to decorate her class valentines, to create...

I had to say I love you with an Etch-a-Sketch

I like giving my kids something cute for Valentine’s Day, but how many teddy bears with hearts can a child own? This Etch A Sketch t-shirt however, had me at  I love you. Each Etch A Sketch t-shirt is hand screen printed with eco-friendly ink on a variety of colored t-shirts and in baby to big kid sizes. It’s a great gift for birthdays, too. Nickelodeon Squeezers: Partly we’re saying “yay!” Partly we’re saying “oy.”

Today, my daughter’s best friend Dora the Explorer gave her a delicious, healthy snack. Yup. I played that card. And I am not nearly ashamed as I probably should be, considering the snack was 100% apple sauce with no added sugar. Nickelodeon Squeezers from Nature’s Child was our first time venturing into the exciting world of squeezable food at all. My one-year-old handled it beautifully and my three-year-old smiled wickedly at me, thinking she was eating something bad for her and getting away with it. They’ve got two flavors available: Dora hawking apple puree, and SpongeBob shilling for berry...

More snow predicted. Retail therapy needed!

I don’t know about you, but the past couple of snowy weeks have been kind of blah. No, not kind of blah. Very blah. My two kids have been home with colds and I can’t think of the last time I got to do something all for me. A little retail therapy is in order here. Lucky for me (and for all of us), we’ve found a doozie of a sale from one of our favorite jewelry and accessory shops. [don’t miss a super sale offer after the jump!] No stranger to the pages of CMP, Polli is discounting...

Baby proofing with a new kind of outlet cover

I know all about baby proofing, considering my toddler is absolutely fascinated by electrical outlets. For some reason, the combination of the right height plus holes you can poke your fingers into equals a good time. Whee! Luckily, there’s a new outlet cover in town and this one is impossible for curious hands to pry off–but a cinch for parents when they have to actually use the outlet. Kid-E-Covers were designed by a dad who designs car parts for the automotive industry, and realized he could build a better electrical outlet cover that covers the entire thing and not...

Shakespeare tees for babies. i.e. Why quote Elmo when you can quote Beatrice

Long ago, in a galaxy far away, I was an actor. Funny enough, I still do plenty of acting today as a Mom. (Help me clean up, kids. It’s so much fun!) Since the theater is still very much still part of my life, I was charmed by these onesies and t-shirts all featuring quotes from Shakespeare. Designed by a former actor, Peaseblossoms brings child-appropriate quotes to life (nothing from Macbeth, promise) with whimsical, original drawings hand silkscreened on 100% jersey knit cotton baby onesies or toddler tees. My favorite: Then there was a star danced and under that...
