2017 EWG best safe sunscreens for kids and babies: Which is the most affordable?

Every year, I take a look at the Environmental Working Group’s report on the best safe sunscreens for kids and babies. This list measures popular brands against the EWG’s standards, including everything from worrisome ingredients to false marketing claims. Not every top-ranked tube of lotion is the same value for the dollar, though, so I’ve broken down all 19 of their best safe sunscreens for kids by price per ounce. Because I’ll bet there are other parents like me, who want safe products for their kids but don’t feel the need to spend more money than necessary. Damn you, Facebook ads: We tried the FLEX disposable tampon alternative, and here’s how it worked for us. In full detail (sorry).

I’m coming up on my 25thish anniversary of my first visit from Aunt Flo. And over that those 2.5 decades, I’ve had the same exact routine every month: tampons and pads. I wasn’t necessarily looking to spice things up in that department, but when I saw the ads on Facebook for a free trial box of FLEX disposable tampon alternatives, I figured, why not give them a try? And then share every sordid detail with the entire Internet. So, here’s how my tampon-free week went, so you can see if making the switch is right for you. FLEX: What is it? (No, really.) Okay, so...

A taco truck on every shoulder

While I’d personally be thrilled to have a taco truck on every corner (especially those ones from Austin, mmm…), I would happily settle for this hilarious taco truck lunch tote dangling from my shoulder. Especially because it doesn’t have to be a lunch tote at all; just wear it as a handbag and bask in that 2017 zeitgeist. Related: The taco truck playhouse for kids not satisfied with those boring castles. For the price, I can’t imagine it’s made of genuine nappa leather (or anything even remotely close to that). Your essential guide to the best, safe tick repellents for kids this spring. Because, eek.

We’re not alarmists around here, but we admit, we’ve been researching safe tick repellents for our own kids. The data we’re seeing on the booming tick population around the country this spring is a little disconcerting, and overall, Lyme disease has been on the rise — at least tripling since the 1990s. Kind of scary for those of us with kids who love to be outdoors. So, I’ve been rolling up my sleeves to scout out the best, safe tick repellents for kids. Where’d you get those bracelets?! Well, I’ll tell ya….

I’ve had a thing for layering multiple bracelets for a while now, which has slowly replaced my former compulsion to wear massive cocktail rings all the time. Here’s what happened with I tried Hubble, the company that sends daily wear contacts to your door.

And so, I’ve stuck with the ones I take out at night, wear for a couple of weeks (or um, months, shhhh), and pay a pretty penny for. That is, until Hubble send me a pack of their daily wear contacts a try. Related: The best mascara for contact wearers. And...

A simple skincare regimen for busy moms, and 5 things I learned after sticking to it for 10 days

I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only mom who barely has enough energy to wash her face at night and slap some moisturizer on, since I’m so darn tired I just want to brush my teeth and hit the sack. Yes, the 30 seconds it would take me always seems like 30 seconds too long. Let alone the time I can spend in the mornings. Yeah, nope. So as you can imagine, the idea of sticking to an actual skincare regimen twice a day for 10 days — like, not just washing but using actual serums and ointments — seems pretty unlikely to me. But when our...

How much water should you be drinking? This smart bottle can help.

At the end of the month, only one product actually made the cut: Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System. If you’re not familiar with this bestselling product, I wanted to review it to see...

4 amazing beauty wipes you didn’t know could do the job of messier products

There’s no denying to new parents that a bottomless stash of diaper wipes is essential in every way. I’m a wipes fan, but I’m awfully picky when it comes to ingredients. To earn a place in my own purse — and on my body — a wipe has to be non-toxic, gentle, and do a heck of a job, whatever its job. How to wear Greenery, Pantone’s 2017 color of the year: 3 glam accessories we love.

When Pantone announced their 2017 color of the year, I admit I wasn’t entirely sold on Greenery, a bright springy, yellowy green that seemed to come out of nowhere. But after reading the backstory, I get it: After a difficult year for so many people, both socially and politically, Greenery is Pantone’s effort to offer a symbol of growth, health, and new beginnings. That said, I don’t think Greenery is the kind of color that looks great on everyone, the way 2016’s Rose Quartz or 2015’s Mykonos Blue did. And that’s where accessories come in.
