Oh, baby, you have no idea

I laughed so hard when I found this adorable Mama said there’d be days like this onesie from Little Adi, inspired by the Shirelle’s popular song lyrics. Was there ever a more perfect song chorus that’s applicable to those early baby months, even it was was written for an entirely different reason? Okay, so probably No Sleep Til Brooklyn qualifies. Maybe a few others. Not that a baby has any concept what a bad day is; at least until she’s the one frantically bouncing the newborn who’s crying, fussing, not sleeping, and generally being, you know. A typical baby. In other words, maybe they should make this design in...

Olivia comes to Gymboree, and now dressing like a pig is the best compliment ever.

I’m looking at the brand new Olivia for Gymboree collection of girls clothes (6mo-12y) that just launched today, and I must say, it’s all pretty darn cute. While I’m not always a fan of kids’ cartoon characters all over my children’s clothes, when it’s a beloved character from a great book — and I mean an actual book, not the book that came from the TV show that came from the movie — I can justify it a little better. In other words, Oliva > Dora. (It’s my own weird thing, I know.) Since my own tween girls grew up on...

Target removes boy and girl toy signs, Internet implodes.

Geez, Target! Change a few signs in your store and you blow up the whole entire Internet! In the past, we’ve discussed our issues with labeling girls toys vs. boys toys,  as opposed to just calling them, oh…you know. BLOCKS. And DOLLS. Well, apparently Target has been listening to our podcast (ha) because when they revealed their plans to remove gender-based signs from Target stores, the bigger surprise was some of the negative response. Aw, Internet Outrage. You’re so entertaining. Catch our thoughts on the oddly controversial news, plus more fun chat on this week’s SPAWNED with Kristen and Liz. You’ll feel like you’re hanging out right here around...

Future smart girls of the world, unite

Wow, it’s been a long time that we’ve been fighting the good fight for smart girl tees, as an alternative to the future diva and future golddigger tees we used to see way too often when our own girls were babies. Clearly we weren’t alone. Because look where we are now! Related: 11 cool career t-shirts for girls who don’t need reminders that they can do anything By now you probably know about Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls — which isn’t just Amy by the way (hey, Meredith!) — and not only are they doing great things for girls, but their organization name happens to lend itself to a...

The cutest personalized baby shoes from top to bottom

We’ve always been big on recommending personalized gifts for people asking us for great baby gift ideas. Personalization makes any gift extra thoughtful, turns nearly anything into a keepsake, and it doesn’t even have to cost a fortune. So my latest find to add to the recommendation list are the personalized baby shoes from UK Etsy shop Born Bespoke. Samantha Gillan’s sweet, entirely handmade leather baby booties are fit for a royal prince or princess, but priced for many of us commoners, which I like. The styles range from not-at-all-scary dinosaurs to the cutest birds and woodland creatures, birth signs and classically simple monograms, hearts, and stars. I...

Cute new gender neutral onesies for babies who refuse to be pigeonholed thank you very much. (Lots of progressive babies out there!)

To beat the summer heat, like lots of parents I like going with a simple and light wardrobe for our new bundle. I am currently on the hunt for some awesome onesies to showcase my baby girl’s sweetness. Yes, baby boys are sweet too. They all don’t have to be FUTURE SPACE NINJA SUMO WRESTLING GALACTIC LORDS. So I love the new gender-neutral baby onesie collection from Susie Ghahremani of CMP fave indie shop Boygirlparty. Your little boy or girl  can wear these gender-neutral, extremely charming, very cute onesies all summer long and still lounge in comfort and style. – Don’t miss an exclusive discount...

Festive baby clothes with stars for your Fourth of July parties (and photo opps)

We’ve noticed a sparkly trend in kids’ clothes this summer: stars. They’re everywhere! And they don’t even have to be sparkly. With Fourth of July weekend coming up, we’ve definitely had stars and stripes on the brain for our kids. These cute baby clothes with stars are adorably festive without making your baby look like one of the floats in the neighborhood parade. Because too much stars and stripes and flag patterns can be, well . . . too much. (Not that babies don’t look cute in absolutely everything.) CMP is an rstyle affiliate   We are huge fans of Tea Collection around here, and this...

Wynn Ruby: One-stop shopping for the cutest baby gifts from small designers.

We’re always happy to discover new online shops that feature some of the small label designers for kids that we love, and now there’s another to add to our list: Wynn Ruby. Right away I knew it was going to be a fun selection when I saw they carried Eleventy-five clothing for kids. But there’s so much more fun to discover. Austin mom Katie Hall opened the shop less than two months ago and I’m already seeing the selection growing by the week. It’s hard to pare down my favorites, but I’m partial to the Kupukupu Kids baby clothing, organic leggings from Babysprouts &...

Our favorite Tea Collection spring/summer clothing for kids: Exploring the colors and patterns of India without a passport

From Eat, Pray, Love to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, we’ve been enamored with the colors and textures of India for a while now. And now Tea Collection (we just can’t quit you, Tea!)  has us obsessing once again with their spring/summer collection of brightly-colored, durable, intricately-patterned boys and girls clothing inspired by Jaipur, India. So we are so so happy to welcome them as  sponsor, especially since we can safely say that everyone on the Cool Mom Picks team has had our kids in head-to-toe Tea from their very early days.   – Don’t miss an outrageously amazing family travel giveaway...
