The Brita water bottle. Pretty smart.

While lots of companies are trying to build a better water bottle (just search water bottle on our site sometime), I’m actually surprised it took Brita so long to get into the game. But now here they are, with a sports bottle that has one of their filters built right in. Fill up the substantial, BPA-free Brita Bottle right from a water fountain or sink, and the filter, which is attached to the sippie part at the top, filters out “chlorine taste and odor” as you drink. Note they say chlorine taste–not actual chlorine. So don’t be filling it with pool water. But it does mean if you need a refill on the road or at the gym, you can feel better about your choices. The filter needs replacing about every 20 gallons or so, so if your kids are downing one of these bottles a day, that’s only once every four¬†months. It does come with a huge Brita plastic wrap label over it but fortunately, it’s easy to peel off. Then you’ve just got a nice, big blue sports bottle, and some well-hydrated kids. –Liz Find the Brita Water Bottle online from shops like Target, Walgreens, and our affiliate...

Pink cadillac? Try pink race car.

My love runs deep for Green Toys and for good reason. Their sturdy, inviting toys made from recycled milk jugs never fail to make my kids squeal with delight. But the new addition to their line has me as happy as it does my kids. [don’t miss a great offer after the jump] Their brand new eco-friendly race car toys are simply awesome. Made with the same detail as their bigger trucks and toys, these cars come in three colors – red, blue, and pink. Yes, pink. They race quite well on hardwood floors, and even though they don’t...

Sipidee doo dah

I just saw the cutest ever sippy cups–so cute in fact that despite the fact that my girls are (thankfully!) almost past the sippy cup stage, I immediately thought about whether I could justify owning them. The sippy cups from SugarBooger (I know, ignore the name) are minis–just 6 oz–making them great to grab on the go. The designs are just fabulous, from the pretty butterfly design seen here, to the sleek vintage alphabet, and the funky Day of the Dead motif. But what I really love is that they work just fine without that BPA-free sippy lid too,...

Kids water bottles get cuter by the second

We’ve been such fans of Beatrix NY over the years (you might know them as Dante Beatrix), because everything they make is pretty much awesome. Their motley little menagerie of creatures range from robots to bunnies to not-particularly-scary dinosaurs, and are now gracing quality backpacks, lunch boxes, and even wheelie suitcases for kids. Now they’ve got one more line to add to the mix: Yippee! It’s adorable water bottles. The new stainless steel kids’ water bottles will be shipping March 1, but if you can’t wait (like me) you can order them now from their site. All are BPA...

Look ma, there’s a monkey in my food!

My son is the proud owner of a Skip Hop Zoo Backpack (a froggie, in case you were wondering), so when I found out they were making a line of tableware to match, I got excited about the idea of luring my son to dinner with something besides bribery. Skip Hop’s new collection of children’s tableware feature matching plates and bowls, which come in bee, monkey, owl and dog. (For some reason the frog didn’t make the cut. They’re BPA-free, phthalate-free and PVC-free, but because they’re made of melamine we’d still recommend hand-washing. And if you can’t get enough...

The peas are touching my carrots!

My daughter used to be the kid who would try anything. She liked broccoli. She ate eggs. She even liked horseradish. My husband and I would brag about it. Well, now she’s a typical, picky three-year-old and she has a few eating quirks. One of them is she won’t allow her food to touch. A lot of time that means touch her mouth, but she also doesn’t like her peas to touch her pasta. The LunchBots Trio is the new line extension from CMP fave LunchBots, makers of really marvelous stainless steel food storage containers. No plastic means no...

A mellow baby is the very best kind

My older three kids gave me a heck of a time when it came to taking a bottle, so with number four, I’m determined to find one that she not only takes, but doesn’t add to the challenge with extra gas. And I may have just found the answer with the new Mellow bottles from Green to Grow. [don’t miss a nice discount after the jump] Now I’m not exactly a bottle expert, with my little breastfed baby bottle snobs and all, but I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with these – and it’s not just because...

The pretty water bottle just for grownups

“Gosh, honey. I’d love to give you my water bottle and have you spit a bunch of germs and floaty pieces of avocado into it,” I said. “But  Mommy’s new bottle is GLASS, so it’s not for kids.” …and that’s how I finally got to taste normal water again. But these new water bottles we discovered have even more good points than floaty-free drinking. Because they’re made of glass and covered in a durable, eco-conscious silicone jacket, the Takeya water bottles give you a beautiful, portable, reusable water bottle that tastes just like you’re drinking out of a glass....

Chewbeads – Mom jewelry for your main accessory

I had not yet felt a great need for mom jewelry. For me, wearing my child’s name around my neck felt redundant because frankly, she is hanging around my neck.(After 15 months of breastfeeding and a total failure to ever accept a bottle, my husband has deemed her my “appendage.”) But here is some mom jewelry me (and my appendage) can really go for. Because it’s meant for babies too. Created by Lisa Greenwald, a former fashion-babe turned mom, Chewbeads is a line of non-toxic jewelry inspired by Lisa’s teething son. Sure, we’ve seen teething jewelry before- but this...

Waste not. Want.

I’m definitely an eco-minded person, but I don’t think I’m alone when I admit that sometimes convenience wins out over conscience. For years I’ve stuffed my son’s lunch box with pre-packaged snacks or plastic snack bags, but I think I’ve found an even better solution. Munchboxes are the perfect way to send snack portions for your child with zero waste. Each one is made from 100% dishwasher-safe stainless steel (no BPA here), and has a main compartment with a small sealable side container to keep the cheese from touching the grapes, or the meatballs from touching the spaghetti. While...
