These so-called “friendly monster finger puppets” bear such a striking resemblance to the Yo Gabba Gabba characters that I had to break down and buy them for my YGG-obsessed daughter’s third birthday. I mean, that striped green one does look a whole lot like Brobee and that one-eyed red monster really could pass for Muno, right? It’s not just me? Find them on Etsy from Utah’s WeeKnit, who does a fabulous job with superhero finger puppets, the Wizard of Oz characters, Star Wars finger puppets and assorted cute barnyard animals, bunnies and fairies too....Read More
There may be nothing more perfect on a baby girl than a simple little white hat. No pompons, no animal ears, no purple organza flowers bigger than the baby’s own head. I found a serious contender, a hand-knit baby hat from Natural Star, at one of our favorite new boutiques, Australia’s Trifle Shoppe. The soft cotton bamboo fabric looks absolutely cozy, and the crocheted flower adornment isn’t too fussy, too frilly, or too overwhelming. Sizing starts at 0-6 months to get newborns through the cold months, but goes right up to a 5+. Because who says only babies deserve...Read More
Looking around the Shokay e-shop recently, it turns out one of our favorite fair trade purveyors of luxury hand knit baby clothes are doing beautiful things with accessories now too. Kristen and I pretty much gasped simultaneously when we saw their link floral necklace. It can even be customized in any colors which is amazing. If you’ve spent any time anywhere remotely hip recently – even if it’s just buried in the pages of your favorite fashion magazine while you’re nursing – you’ll know that woven and fabric necklaces are the new hot thing. It’s such a great way...Read More
I was just poking around Etsy (I do that a lot) and I came across a link to the KnitKnit shop from Brooklyn artist Nguyen Le. And there I spotted this incredible cameo necklace and just fell in love. Or rather, it looks like a cameo, but it’s actually all needle felted by hand. Except for the chain part, of course, which is brass. How great is that! So great that I ran right over here to share it with you. Although if I admit it, I was reluctant. Because it’s the kind of thing I’d want to get...Read More
With the cold weather here, my little barefoot-loving toddler is now being forced into socks and shoes. And boy is she ticked off about it. But I’d imagine the Beba Bean sweater socx will make kids like her a much happier camper. These mom-designed hybrid legwarmer and baby bootie are easily worn on bare legs, even in the warmer months, or over your little one’s pants or leggings now. The tight cotton knit and drawstring up top make sure that they actually stay up–I was worried about that until I tried them out myself. Plus the suede bottoms give some traction for walkers. Look around...Read More
