A sweet Mother’s Day gift for grandma, or any other name she goes by.

My kids call my mom Mimi. And my husband’s mom is Grama. They also have a Nana, and their cousins have a Honey. They have friends with a Lolly and a Marnie. But we almost never find gifts for our grandmothers with their actual grandmother names on them — not surprising, right? That’s why I’m loving these beautiful handmade, personalized ornaments from Magic Moon Pottery. With their special grandmother name hand-stamped on it, they’ll know it was made with love just for them. Deck the halls with printable Christmas ornaments from Smallful

I’ve woken up a few times over the last couple weeks to the sound of ornaments falling from my tree and crashing to the floor. Not good. I’ve got a few gaps in my tree now, but with just a couple days until school is out and the kids are home, I don’t have time to make a run to the store for more ornaments. Our editor Liz forwarded me these cool printable Christmas ornaments from Smallful the other day, and now I don’t need to go anywhere. I love tradition and vintage and classic at Christmas, but these fresh, modern designs...

Gifts that give back: These ornaments could change the world. For real.

Some of our favorite ornaments this year are more than just pretty baubles for your tree. They just might cure breast cancer, save an endangered species, or transform the life of women living in extreme poverty. Pretty impressive. The shiny green and red heart ornament (above) was designed by Mariska Hargitay and supports Child Mind, a non-profit focused on transforming mental heath care for kids everywhere. Love that. ($40) This adorable little bigfoot yeti comes from Ten Thousand Villages, an online retailer sourced completely by disadvantaged artisans in 38 countries worldwide. This particular guy was crafted in the foothills...

Custom Christmas ornaments, delivered on doves’ wings

It’s not that I don’t go “awwww” just a little bit over the beautiful hand-cut  ceramic dove ornament with a customizable message from Paloma’s Nest–it’s that mentally I’m sometimes still about nine or ten and imagine all the hilarious words I could put in there. Of course it would be nice to personalize the ornaments with believe or adore or your kids’ own lovely names, but with up to twelve characters I am tempted to do familygate08 or hide me. In the end I’ll probably just get fly.  Darn sentimental side always triumphs over the internal 9-year-old....

Talk about getting a bang for your nursery decor buck: The whimsical set of mini hand-painted artwork is not just wall art, it’s a whole set of ornaments. I love her existing motley assortment of characters and colors, but she’ll customize them for you for a small additional fee. If you don’t want the whole set, you...

Every year for Christmas (yes, we’re thinking Christmas already) Santa tries very hard to bring my kids an ornament that is somehow representative of the past year. “Baby’s First Christmas” is a no-brainer, but what about those other occasions you may not find commemorated in the stores?
