Cool Wonder Woman gifts that boys and men will love too.

Wonder Woman — let alone an exclusive all-female screening of the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman movie — does not frighten the boys and men in my life, and for that I am grateful. I mean, what kid wouldn’t want to look up to a badass superhero who’s a natural born athlete, fighter, and can bench press 15,000 pounds? And that was before she earned the bracelets. Not to mention that iconic magic lasso which so many of us coveted as kids. Why the awesome new Wonder Woman doll from Mattel is worth waiting for.

The Wonder Woman movie isn’t out until June, but the new Wonder Woman doll from Mattel will give little girls plenty of fierce dreams until then. Ahead of this weekend’s New York Toy Fair (which we’ll be covering, of course!), Mattel unveiled several Wonder Woman figures to support the film (as one does these days) exclusively through Entertainment Weekly, and you have to check it out. Based on Gal Gadot’s arse-kicking depiction of her in the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman (whoo, more girl power!), you’ll find  Diana in training gear, a party dress disguise, and fantastic armor. There are also majestic horses,...

Fight evil (and frostbite) with these cool superhero snowsuits.

Snowsuits have come a long way since Randy’s slug imitation in A Christmas Story. Today’s kid demands warmth and comfort — and the ability to move. This season, the officially licensed Marvel and DC offerings from Funwear.com include jackets and pants to transform your super kid into their favorite superhero. The collection includes the best of the best — you know, Superman, Incredible Hulk, Thor. And while some of the jackets are great for waiting at...

Meet the awesome new superhero Robeez: Able to leap all that baby gear all over your floor in a single bound.

Robeez has been a favorite of mine since before my kids were even born; I was literally buying them when I was still pregnant. With awesome styles like the little peanut elephant shoes, football frenzy shoes, and monogrammed options – could you blame me? Well this fall they’ve taken things up a notch from cute-to-super-cool with their new superhero Robeez shoes. Let’s just say, they are awesome. This is the first time I’ve seen an all-over print on Robeez, and I love the modern black-and-white graphics with the red letters that make these shoes pop. They would also go great with the bright, bold colors that we’ve been spotting this...

The same ones you may remember from your childhood.  I had no idea they even still existed, did you? Kids can choose from a limited number of retro-fabulous brief/tank sets featuring the likes of Batman and Robin, Superman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Super Girl, all to help them fly into bed each night, and perhaps use their super human strength to stay in bed a little longer on weekend mornings. Wonder Woman Havaianas: All the feet are waiting for you.

Everyone’s favorite affordable Brazilian flip-flops are now a colorful homage to the great Princess Diana of Themyscira and they come in both women’s and kids’ sizes. However I may have to get them just for me. My younger daughter said, but I didn’t even see the movie yet! (Sigh. Kids today.)  Then all I’d need is a pair of those awesome Wonder Woman bracelets in our Indie Shop and my childhood fantasy would be complete. But I’d settle for Diana’s legs. The best best friend gift for a Wonder Woman in your life

When I saw these Wonder Woman cuffs (excuse me…Wonder Woman inspired cuffs) from artist Jacq Jones, I added them to our own shop faster than you can spin around three times and find yourself wearing a sexy strapless leotard and red vinyl go-go boots. (Update: The cuffs are now available through the CustomMade shop.) By the artist’s own admission they are a little costumey, so I wouldn’t wear both at once. But I love the idea of grabbing one for yourself and giving one to a great friend. Like a new interpretation of a friendship bracelet. Only it won’t fall apart after...

Bam! Pow! These handmade, custom superhero capes for kids are insanely gorgeous

When my kids have had about all the video game time I can take, I need perfect playthings on hand to spark their imaginations–preferably outside and totally away from screens. The custom superhero capes from Super Kid Capes on Etsy are my most recent find for my youngest two. Handmade by Brooke Fuller in South Bend, Indiana, many of these capes recall classic super heroes–like Captain America, Batman and Robin and Wonder Woman–customized with your child’s name or initial. (I can just hear my kids saying Aaaawwesome.)  There are more design options like dinosaurs, crowns, and flowers for kids who want to make an extra style...

And that’s where our newest sponsor Sew Plain Jane comes in. Several years ago, we first discovered their amazingly affordable handmade superhero capes for kids a birthday party  ourselves, and couldn’t believe how adorable–and reasonably priced–they were. The capes, masks and accessories are even handmade in the USA by work-at-home-moms, which we love.   So if...

Cooler than Wonder Woman’s bracelet: Wonder Woman’s ring

I don’t know too many women who don’t have a little space in their hearts for Wonder Woman, whether it’s the original DC comic, the awesomely campy Lynda Carter TV series, or just the fantasy of having an alter-ego superhero. So I am kind of geeking out over this jewelry that pays homage to her and other DC Comics female characters.  I discovered nOir Jewelry when I saw some of their beautiful work on Fab, and clicked over to the site. With such fun, edgy, room-stopping pieces, it’s no wonder celebs like Gwen Stefani, Fergie, Nicki Minaj and and Rihanna are among their...

The Spry Sprout shop on Etsy bills itself as “a unique geek kid boutique”, and that just about covers it. Baltimore mom Miranda makes each piece by hand using some of the coolest geeky fabrics we’ve ever seen.  Star Wars, Avengers,...
