We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for kids, but if your household is like mine, you probably struggle a bit taking this knowledge and applying it to your daily life. I know that a plate of scrambled eggs with fresh fruit and whole wheat toast is the optimal choice. I also know that a bowl of Lucky Charms is the easier choice. And at 6:30am? I go for the easy, my friends.

But, I’ve recently remembered that there is another option: Ice cream for breakfast. This is totally legit. I work with eleven registered dietitians, and I even checked with one who agreed this is an excellent and nutritious alternative for breakfast. Here’s what you do: Take one scoop of Belizza Acai sorbet, available conveniently through Amazon or at various supermarkets. It’s packed with nutrients and antioxidants and made from the sustainable (and uber-trendy) berry, Acai, along with flavors like mango and banana. Next top it with some fresh fruit–we use blueberries, strawberries and bananas–and some high protein granola. Voila.

It’s technically called an Acai Energy Bowl, but referring to it as a Super Special Breakfast Sundae will score you way more points. –Danielle, CMP’s newest contributor, food expert, and all-around great gal
