Browsing the Atlantic Antic yesterday, the beloved annual Brooklyn street fair, I stumbled across some amazing leather jewelry and accessories amidst the beer gardens and belly dancers and homemade spanakopitas. I was drawn. in by Amber Poitier’s sculptural 3-D leather drop earrings, but I walked away (with the help of my daughter) with a funky leather cuff bracelet in gold.
And I kind of wanted more.

My newest bracelet! I love it!
The way she plays with shape and texture is fantastic, from laser-cut leather earrings to bracelets to inventive necklaces. They’re kind of raw leather on the underside, even if the exterior is a color or metallic gold or silver. It gives them an earthy-chic feel that makes them perfect when you’re already wearing enough “shiny” and want to balance out your jewelry a bit.
It also makes the cuffs so amazing for layering. And you know how we like the layered bracelet stack look!
They close with a pair of chunky gold rivets and a choice of three holes, almost like a belt, so you can wear it tight (how I’m wearing mine, above) or a little looser if you prefer. And they’re incredibly lightweight, making them perfect four-season pieces.
The Lexi is another style of leather cuff bracelet, in metallics, neutrals, or bold colors.
Amber also offers a couple of handbags that are just stunning in person. If you’re up for a splurge, I am smitten with her combo of genuine leather with luxurious wood handles, finished off with leather lacing that feels like a fresher take on contrast topstitching.
And the fact that Amber started her own company to pursue her dream of working for herself while spending more time with her kids, means you get the bonus of supporting a mom-run independent artist when you buy her work. Plus, she’s from Brooklyn so of course I’m biased.
