Whatever we cover here for bigger kids, our hearts still belong to those beautiful new babies, and their new moms who are just discovering the world of cool possibilities for them. While we have an awesome annual baby shower gift guide with more than 100 awesome picks, here are a few favorites of the year that might show up on our 2011 guide, coming out soon.
Baby Gifts
The new Jonathan Adler Junior collection (at top) means I’ve got a new go-to site for well-designed baby gifts for those mamas in my life who just won’t be satisfied with a six-pack of cloth diapers. –Liz
You can’t go wrong with anything from Blabla kids, like their new dream rings, the kind of gift that makes that new mom cry. And don’t be fooled–that’s not as easy to do as you think. -Kristen
Baby Gear
I think the Nook sleep system is inspired; they’ve really reinvented what a crib mattress can be. Namely non-toxic, organic, breathable, and very comfortable. -Liz
I never thought I’d use a video baby monitor, but then I tried out the Philips Avent video baby monitor and I’m eating my words. A registry must. There, I said it. -Kristen
When your bambino is nestled all snug in his Snugride, it’s hard to imagine he’ll ever be big enough for a booster. When he is, we hope he’s still got the wonderful Clek Booster Seats to choose from, especially with the cool Paul Frank designs. –Liz
Strollers
I’m so pleased that Mamas & Papas finally made it to American shores. We can always use more affordable, well-designed strollers around here. –Liz
I also have to give a shout-out to the Bugaboo Donkey. All hail the long awaited Bugaboo double stroller! Even if the name is a little…yeah. That. –Liz
The iCandy strollers live up to their name and more. They’re swanky and smart–two qualities I think should be requirements for any stroller purchase and are often hard to find. Kristen
Bedding, blankets, and bibs
Every time I wrap my newest baby in the new organic aden + anais swaddlers I wonder why I ever used anything else before. Yes, they’re just that amazing. -Kristen
Affordable bedding that’s as cute as the stuff in the expensive boutiques? Absolutely. Now that DwellStudio for Target is here. Welcome! We’re happy to have you. –Liz
The Aden blanket is fine for summer, but it’s freezing now and we really wish you would have included a flannel blanket like Swaddle Designs Organic blanket on your list at this time of year. My friends and I prefer the softness of flannel and they are aren’t too cool like the others you mentioned. They keep our babies warm, but not too warm. We agree on the iCandy Stroller tho! Super nice.
Thanks for the input Marie, glad to hear you found a swaddler that works for you, which is all that matters! For what it’s worth, Aden also makes a heavier winter-weight blanket that we adore: https://www.adenandanais.com/shop/cozy.aspx It’s also fantastic, and definitely worth a try.
