The Children's Choice Book Awards--One award show you don't have to stay up until midnight for.

Here's something we love: Now through April 29, you and your little ones can cast votes for the finalists in the Children's Choice Book Awards. What a cool way to get your kid involved in picking new titles to grab from the library.

The categories are sorted by age, plus there's Illustrator or the Year and Author of the Year. Winners will be announced during Children's Book Week and you can help.

If you want to discover some new reading material for your early-reading kiddos, check out these finalists in the K through 2nd grade categories. Even Monsters Need Haircuts by Matthew McElligott

Hot Rod Hamster by Cynthia Lord, illustrated by Derek Anderson

How Rocket Learned to Read by Tad Hills

Little Pink Pup by Johanna Kerby

Shark vs. Train by Chris Barton, illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld

Cast your vote now and see what happens when you give a babe a book. (Hint: That babe will hopefully grow up surrounded with more books, some of which might feature moose, muffins, pigs, pancakes, and sparkly vampires.) ~Delilah
