Volcom is my kids’ absolute obsession around these parts. They’re hardcore skateboarders, and Volcom represents everything that is awesome about skater culture. One of my sons insists on only wearing shirts emblazoned with their logo. He has two, and if they’re dirty? No worries. He will gladly dig them out of the laundry basket. Talk about brand loyalty at six years old!
And now Volcom’s newest collaboration is the raddest thing since sliced bread, because they have figured out a way to raise the roof on cool. Intrigued? Oh, you should be.
Volcom and Yo Gabba Gabba have joined forces along with superfriends Jack Black and his son, Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO, Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips, Dave Grohl and his daughter Violet (sooo cute!), Jon Heder (aka Napoleon Dynamite), and Biz Markie.
Each of these creative talents showcases their Gabba love on Volcom gear that is beyond hot. My favorite is Jack and Sam Black’s take on Brobee (above). Then again, I’m always down a Biz Markie t-shirt gracing my kid’s chest (or mine). And you have to watch the Volcom video describing the collaboration. It’s crazy fun.
But that’s not even the half of it. Somehow, Volcom and Yo Gabba Gabba have pulled off another unbelievable feat. Rocket from the Crypt, a band last heard from on Halloween in 2005, has reunited for a sweet
song to celebrate the collaboration, that you’ll get free with any t-shirt order after October 2.
Get on it! The record promo will not last, but oh, the skate-magic will, if your family is anything like mine. The hard part will be getting the shirts off my sweaty sons’ bodies so that I can wash them. –
