I like to think of myself as a closet crafter, someone who secretly loves DIY projects but can never find the time to do them. Well, now that my kids are almost out of school for the summer, I’m determined to roll up my sleeves with them, and I found just the book to help me do it.
Dad’s Book of Awesome Projects is chock full of more than 2 dozen DIY projects for families to enjoy together, all inspired by author Mike Adamick’s time as a stay-at-home-dad with his daughter and wow, is it fun. And not just for dads, by the way.
The book is split into three main sections, with all sorts of cool crafts and projects for DIY-ers at various levels, based on the amount of time and energy involved.
Now you’ll find a few projects you may have seen before, like homemade playdough or crayon shapes, but there are plenty my daughter is already begging us to try. Homemade stilts, anyone?
Each project features lots of photos and easy-to-follow instructions, along with fun banter (he is a great writer, after all) and helpful tips. And yes, while some require a bit more crafty genes than others, I’m impressed with the diversity of the projects which are perfect for both girls and boys, as well as moms and dads. Snatch it up before school’s out and you’ll be more than ready when summer hits. Or even Father’s Day. –Kristen
